If there is one article you must read this Winter, it is Angelo Codevilla's "America's Ruling Class -- And The Perils of Revolution." With good reason, it has been likened to Karl Marx's "Communist Manifesto," but it turns Marxoid class theory on its head: the real enemy of the People are not the capitalists, but the politicians, the bureaucrats, the corporate insiders and their apologists in the media. Our class enemies are the people behind TARP and all the ongoing bank bailouts.

TUNIS - The United States said it was ready to assist the country in preparing for its first free elections and encouraged Tunisia’s embattled interim government on Wednesday to do more to satisfy the demands of the people.
Assistant Secretary of State Jeff Feltman said he had met civil society activists and opposition leaders as well as members of the government, which is under pressure from protesters demanding it be purged of ex-ruling party members.
“The interim unity government ... have made some encouraging statements and have taken some good steps regarding the need for elections, for greater openness, for significant reforms,” Feltman told a news conference.
Oil prices, so far, have not reacted to news of protesters in the streets of Cairo, but oil traders are keeping a wary eye on the political situation there. Sparked by unrest in Tunisia, which ousted that country's government, Egyptians have taken to the streets in the biggest protests in three decades. Thousands of protesters Wednesday defied a government ban on protests against President Hosni Mubarak's rule, and police fired rubber bullets, tear gas, and arrested demonstrators.
Tension remains high in Egypt as anti-government protests continue across the country.
At least 3 citizens and 1 police officer were killed in clashes with riot police on Tuesday during the country's biggest protests in years. On Wednesday about 3,000 demonstrators occupied central Cairo demanding an end to President Hosni Mubarak's 30-year rule. Riot police fired tear gas, and protesters responded by throwing stones. Egypt's government is sticking to its tough stance, arresting over 500 people on Wednesday alone.

The Institute of Environmental Medicine at Stockholm’s Karolinska Institute reports that the water in a common coffee vending machine here has up to 10 times the safe level of lead.
According to Swedish Television News, the lead is coming from brass components of one particular model made by the De Jong Duke company of the Netherlands. They represent around 1500 of the 100,000 coffee machines in Sweden, or about 1.5 percent.
On its website, the company says it is not aware of the problem elsewhere, and that replacements for the brass components are available.
Swedes are heavy coffee drinkers, at three cups a day sixth in the world in per capital consumption.
The Swedish live video streaming site Bambuser says its service has been blocked in Egypt.
The site, which provides live video from mobile phones and webcams, says the interruption began Tuesday, shortly after the start of unprecedented nationwide demonstratons against the 30 year rule of President Hosni Mubarak. Måns Adler, who founded the site in 2007, tells AFP he is convinced the Egyptian government is behind the blockage.
"The Internet provider is probably the one that can deny access to different websites and services," he says, "but in this case we believe that the Egyptian government has asked the Internet providers to shut down a range of services."
Stuart Littlewood reflects on the scandalous revelations of the leaked Palestine Papers, which exposed the willingness of the Palestinian National Authority to concede to Israel inalienable Palestinian rights. He says that what Palestinians need now are "incorruptible unity leadership, tactical courage, a bold communications strategy ... and resolute determination of the highest order".
Yvonne Ridley argues that the tide has turned in the Arab world now that the people have breached the fear barrier, and predicts that oppressive and corrupt Arab regimes, which have been propped up by the US and its European allies, will begin to tumble like dominos.

In the view of The Movement, the world today has become very detached from the physical world, with techniques of production and distribution that have no relationship to the environment. Our use of a profit based, “growth” driven monetary system has become one of the greatest destroyers of the natural world, not to mention sustainable human values. It is important to understand that the entire global economy requires “cyclical consumption” to operate, which means that money must constantly be circulating. Thus, new goods and services must be constantly introduced regardless of the state of the environment and actual human necessity. This "perpetual" approach has a fatal flaw, for resources as we know it are simply not infinite.
A celebrity journalist now claims he misspoke when he said last week that Hawaii’s governor told him he was unable to find President Barack Obama’s original birth certificate after a search of state and hospital archives.
Mike Evans told FoxNews.com on Wednesday he was remorseful and embarrassed that he appeared to have given the impression that he had discussed the search for Obama’s birth certificate with Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie.

This clip is pretty shocking...
Oh and you can skip all those cops coming to all those funerals: they no longer represent the public: Not anymore! Besides if your commanders had any brains at all, they might realize that several hundred cops showing up from all over the nation might be a really bad idea-especially if there are some out there that just want just to kill more cops? That uniform that has been used and abused to terrorize the population makes a really easy target for those that are not pleased with what "the cops of today" seem to think is their "right" by virtue of the nameless, badge-less uniform with body-armor for additional intimidation.
Yet there were truth-tellers out there who were largely ignored. Investors like Warren Buffett compared the new exotic financial instruments to weapons of mass destruction— financial nuclear bombs.
Even guru of the right Ayn Rand had warned in Atlas Shrugged about greed destroying her beloved free market: “When you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you—when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice—you may know that your society is doomed.”
