North Korea is supplying banned nuclear and ballistic equipment to Iran, Syria and Myanmar using "surreptitious" means to avoid international sanctions, according to a UN report released Friday. International Atomic Energy Agency director Yukiya Amano said this week that the stand-off with North Korea was now "very bad". China has been the North's main ally on the international stage and it had blocked the report since it was prepared in May, diplomats said. Webmaster's Commentary:
Although the culprit in this report is North Korea, it is an indirect bash at China, conveniently published right after the G-20, during which China and the rest of the world told the US what to do with its "quantitative easing" policy.

Webmaster's Commentary: IF true, this report indicates that the "withdrawal" will be just as cosmetic as was the alleged "withdrawal" in Iraq, where Americans are still getting killed and maimed for life. Palestinians are expressing strong reservations about a US proposal meant to entice Israel to reinstate limits on West Bank settlement construction and revive peace talks. The proposal calls for a 90-day ban on housing starts in the West Bank, but not in war-won east Jerusalem, the Palestinians would-be capital. Erekat says the Palestinians "have a major problem in not including east Jerusalem."
Webmaster's Commentary: Clinton had to know, in her talks with Netanyahu, that not including East Jerusalem had to be a non-starter for the Palestinians. Erekat stated on Friday that "if Israel failed to freeze construction in West Bank settlements by the end of November, the Palestinian Authority would ask the international community to recognize an independent state." Unfortunately for Erekat and the Palestinians,, the US will simply veto such a resolution immediately.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu showed senior ministers a U.S. plan for resuming peace talks with Palestinians, including a 90-day settlement freeze, a diplomatic source told reporters Saturday. The plan also includes a pledge not to seek any extension to the settlement freeze after the 90-day period, a vow to veto any attempts at the United Nations to force a unilateral peace deal and an agreement on supplying Israel with more war planes. Webmaster's Commentary: I'll believe in the "freeze" on settlement building when I see it, if this plan is acceptable to the Knesset, a potential outcome which I wouldn't bet on happening.
