THE BANKERS MANIFESTO - 1892

The courts must be called to our aid, debts must be collected, bonds and mortgages foreclosed as rapidly as possible. When, through the process of law, the common people have lost their homes, they will be more tractable and easily governed through the influence of the strong arm of the government applied to a central power of imperial wealth under the control of the leading financiers. People without homes will not quarrel with their leaders. History repeats itself in regular cycles. This truth is well known among our principal men who are engaged in forming an imperialism of the world. While they are doing this, the people must be kept in a state of political antagonism.

China raises reserve requirement ratio

The People's Bank of China raised the reserve requirement ratio for its banks by a half-percentage point on Friday in an attempt to control the flow of new money and combat inflation.

China's tightening comes as the Federal Reserve plans for more quantitative easing. The Fed plans to inject money into the economy by buying $600 billion in long-term Treasuries over the next eight months. Webmaster's Commentary: Looking at what Bernanke and the Fed have been doing to debase the value of the US dollar, one can hardly blame China for taking these fiscally defensive steps.

Top banks face $100 billion Basel shortfall: report

The new Basel III banking rules will leave the biggest U.S. banks short of between $100 billion and $150 billion in equity capital, with 90 per cent of the shortfall concentrated in the top six banks, the Financial Times said, citing research from Barclays Capital. The newspaper said the study by the investment banking arm of Barclays Plc (LSE:BARC.L - News) assumes the banks will need to hold top quality capital equal to 8 percent of their total assets -- a one point cushion against falling below the effective global minimum of 7 percent set in September by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As reported at: http://nyjobsource.com/banks.html

The top 6 US banks, ranked by total deposits, are as follows:

1. BANK OF AMERICA
2. JP MORGAN CHASE BANK
3. WACHOVIA BANK
4. WELLS FARGO BANK
5. CITI BANK
6. US BANK

Nouriel Roubini, the star economist whose gloomy forecasts have earned him the nickname of Dr. Doom, is at it again.

This time he has taken to Twitter to predict pain. The New York University professor was reacting to a report by Laurie Goodman, senior managing director at Amherst Securities, who says one in five distressed homeowners in the U.S. faces, or may face, foreclosure, Housing Wire reports. She says 11.5 million home loans are non-performing or highly distressed at present.

And Roubini says that spells trouble. “Amherst Securities Goodman estimates that 11.5 million households could default on their mortgages, not the 4 million priced in by markets,” he tweets.

“If 11.5 million more households default on their mortgages, most U.S. banks would be insolvent again. That's why Goodman's estimates are scary.”

Folks, please pay very close attention here. And it is always good policy to have no more in the bank than absolutely necessary to pay your bills.

Government loses bid to keep 7/7 evidence secret

Justice Heather Hallett, who is overseeing the inquests into the deaths of the 52 people killed in the suicide attacks, ruled earlier this month that she could not hear evidence detailing sensitive intelligence material in closed session. She concluded that even if the public could be excluded, "interested parties," such as relatives of the victims, could not.

The Death Of John Kennedy - Why Nixon resigned instead of facing impeachment.

Nixon resigned over an obstruction of justice charge (with some of the legal groundwork prepared by a young Hillary Rodham). Nixon resigned gracefully, the media declared the incident over and Gerald Ford declared that it was time to "put the whole affair behind us and move forward". This was done because the last thing anyone wanted in Washington D.C. was an impeachment trial. Even Nixon's worst enemies dared not allow it. The reasoning was simple. Sooner or later, someone would ask the following question.

"Why, when Nixon's re-election was a study in foregone conclusions, was it necessary to break into the DNC headquarters at the Watergate?"

Gerald Ford forced to admit the Warren Report fictionalized

Thirty-three years ago, Gerald R. Ford took pen in hand and changed - ever so slightly - the Warren Commission's key sentence on the place where a bullet entered John F. Kennedy's body when he was killed in Dallas. The effect of Ford's change was to strengthen the commission's conclusion that a single bullet passed through Kennedy and severely wounded Texas Gov. John Connally - a crucial element in its finding that Lee Harvey Oswald was the sole gunman.

JFK - Memo surfaces linking Oswald to CIA

Hawaii’s Bloody Monday – August 1, 1938

“They shot us down like a herd of sheep. We didn’t have a chance. The firing kept up for about five minutes. They just kept on pumping buckshot and bullets into our bodies. They shot men in the back as they ran. They shot men who were trying to help wounded comrades and women. They ripped their bodies with bayonets. It was just plain slaughter.”

The Death Of John Kennedy

There have been two official investigations. One concluded Oswald acted alone, the other that there was a conspiracy. After forty four years, many of the key documents which could tell the whole story remain classified. John F. Kennedy's brain is still missing from the National Archives. Why, if it is an open and shut case? Why the secrecy, if Oswald was just a "crazed lone gunman"?

Israel razes Bedouin village for seventh time

Israeli government bulldozers raised the Bedouin town of Al-Arakib, in the Negev desert, for the seventh time in three months on Monday. Local sources said Israeli police raided houses in the village, emptying them of residents' possessions, before demolishing the structures.Israeli authorities first razed Al-Arakib in late June, returning six more times to destroy the town after residents rebuilt their homes.

Webmaster's Commentary: Were I a betting person, I would be willing to bet that the people of Al-Arakib will continue to re-build! And every time this happens, I hope there is a camera there to record the demolition! And note that the power of these people doesn't come in the form of violence: it comes in the simple, symbolic act of rebuilding their village, and attempting to rebuild their shattered lives.

Video: Kabul is no child's playground

Contrary to what the Nato spokesman says, Afghanistan is one of the worst places in the world for a child to live in. One in five children there will die before they reach the age of five due to a myriad of causes, ranging from everyday violence to widespread diseases.

FLASHBACK - Israel killed JFK,says Vanunu

In a startling accusation, nuclear whistleblower Mordechai Vanunu has alleged that Jerusalem was behind the assassination of US President John F. Kennedy, who was exerting pressure on the then Israeli head of state to shed light on the Dimona nuclear plant. In defiance of a ban on talking to the media and meeting with foreigners, Vanunu is said to have made the accusation in an interview to London-based Al-Hayat newspaper.

NATO: A New Strategic Concept and Many More Wars

-Once again, NATO seeks after political and military control of the world, and the great confrontation will take place in the Arab World and Central Asia – a confrontation that will detonate in local and regional wars, which will witness changing regimes and perhaps also the borders of some countries. In other words, it relies on the United States’ theory of preemptive wars, so as to “adapt to new threats”, as stated in the document being discussed at the Lisbon Summit today – a document that can be summed up by saying that NATO must “confront terrorism, secure energy sources and their supply routes, and counter maritime piracy, organized crime and cyber warfare”.

Webmaster's Commentary: Considering how totally disastrously the war is going in Afghanistan for the US and NATO, one would hope that NATO commanders might be just a bit more judicious about picking their next target for an attack.

But of course, that would be logical!!!

JUST IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS!!!! The Playmobil Security Check Point

Webmaster's Commentary:

"Take off your clothes and let me touch you down there, Suzie. That's the way we are supposed to play this game! Just like at the real airports! Only don't tell your mother we did this, okay?"

US to spend $413 billion more on Afghan war

US soldier in Afghanistan walks past Afghan child. A decision by US President Barack Obama to extend the presence of American troops in Afghanistan beyond 2014 is likely to increase the remaining cost of the unpopular war to USD 413 billion.

On Saturday, NATO Secretary General said the US-led military alliance will remain in Afghanistan for as long as it takes to finish off its enemies there. The newly defined deadline comes with a heavy price tag at a time when the US and many of its allies are facing increasing deficit cuts at home. Webmaster's Commentary: Terrific: while homeless Veterans sleep in our streets, our infrastructure is crumbling, and ever more Americans are jobless, this is the wisest use of taxpayer dollars the Federal government can come up with?!?!?

The only people "winning" in Afghanistan are the drug lords, and the defense contractors!!

The Secret of Oz

The Stench of American Hypocrisy: Crimes of Torture and "The American Dream"

In a recent column, "The Stench of American Hypocrisy," I noted that US public officials and media are on their high horse about the rule of law in Burma while the rule of law collapses unremarked in the US. Americans enjoy beating up other peoples for American sins. Indeed, hypocrisy has become the defining characteristic of the United States.

War Without Borders": NATO Proclaims Itself Global Military Force

The recently concluded North Atlantic Treaty Organization Treaty summit in Portugal gave Washington everything it demanded from its 27 NATO allies, at least 20 NATO partners providing troops for the war in Afghanistan, the European Union and Russia.

Webmaster's Commentary: One has to wonder, given how horrendously NATO and the US's military misadventure in Afghanistan is going, just what NATO's "Globocop Military Force" will target as its next disaster?!?

Full-body scanners are waste of money, Israeli expert says

leading Israeli airport security expert says the Canadian government has wasted millions of dollars to install "useless" imaging machines at airports across the country. "I don't know why everybody is running to buy these expensive and useless machines. I can overcome the body scanners with enough explosives to bring down a Boeing 747," Rafi Sela told parliamentarians probing the state of aviation safety in Canada. "That's why we haven't put them in our airport," Sela said, referring to Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International Airport, which has some of the toughest security in the world.

Is Nokia ashamed to be doing business in Israel, AS THEY SHOULD BE….. or are they trying to dodge the boycott against them by conveniently omitting Israel from the list?

ISRAELI WAR CRIMINAL LIST GOES GLOBAL

The list seemed to be part of a growing effort by activists, both in Israel and abroad, to pursue the pressing of war crime charges under the principle of universal jurisdiction against Israeli soldiers who participated in the attack. The three-week offensive launched by Israel in December 2008 resulted in the killings of about 1,400 Gazans, most of them civilians.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The list is mirrored HERE

Demise of the Politically Correct?

Dave Barry, excerpted above, deals with a pre-airflight patdown he underwent because the "detector" could not properly discern his full figure. The dominant social theme is obvious; the idea is apparently to defuse worry about America's growing fascism by making gentle fun of it, and thus remove the larger threat posed to what is left of American freedoms. In this article, then, we will attempt to analyze, briefly, the way money power, like a gigantic vacuum cleaner, has sucked the political context out of art and made most forms of commentary decorative rather than confrontational (in a good sense).
