Bush talks about EXPLOSIVES in building (on 9/11?)

When witnesses started to come forward with stories of explosions inside the WTC buildings on 9-11, Bush briefly attempted to explain it away by claiming that Khalid Sheik Mohammed admitted (after 134 waterboardings) that Al Qaeda planted explosives in the buildings. Of course, that prompted a question from a certain blogger asking why, if Al Qaeda (nudge nudge wink wink) planted explosives in the buildings, why bother with the jet planes? Then there were witnesses who started ti come forward to report they had seen the workmen who planted the explosives in the buildings, and not only did they not look Arab they had special security passes and a reserved elevator. So after those problems surfaced with the story, Bush dropped the claim about terrorists planting bombs in the buildings and the story went back to "There were no bombs, there were no bombs, there were no bombs..."

Indonesia Mount Merapi volcano erupts again Friday

Indonesia's Mount Merapi erupted again Friday, spewing volcanic material for more than an hour, the official Antara news agency reported. The death toll from the volcano's latest round of eruptions, which started October 26, has reached 206, and nearly 400,000 people have had to flee their homes, a national disaster official said Friday. Webmaster's Commentary:

Well, the good news is that even though this is a strato-volcano, the steady eruption suggests that the lava is a little less viscous than that from Krakatau or Tambura, which means less of a chance of a catastrophic explosive event. This is still a disaster for the people of Indonesia who have lost their homes, but then more Americans have lost their homes to the banks, just to keep things in perspective.

Satellites tracking Mt Merapi volcanic ash clouds

Since its latest series of deadly eruptions, Java’s Mt Merapi has been spewing volcanic ash clouds into the air. Satellite data are crucial for assessing the eruption’s danger to air traffic and public safety. Mt Merapi began erupting on 26 October and has killed more than 200 people. Numerous international flights in and out of the Indonesia area have been cancelled due to ash clouds. Flying through such clouds is a threat to safety because the damaging particles can lead to engine failure.

I’M NOT VERY GOOD AT MATH, BUT DOES THIS SOUND ‘KOSHER’ TO YOU?

Personal property of Jewish financier Bernard Madoff were sold in an auction that raised more than $2 million to repay the victims of his multi-billion dollar Ponzi scheme. Billions are missing or owed, $2 Million will repay? Is there a new scheme in the making?? Webmaster's Commentary: Or maybe people did not want Madoff's smelly old slippers as much as Madoff imagined they ought to.

The Great "Depression"

Today I would like to continue my discussion of the (so-called) Great Depression as this is the giant lie which is behind most of the other economic lies which have deceived so many people and cost them so much money.

Financial Times: "The real danger here for banks is that 'show me the note' becomes widespread"

The danger here is that ’show me the note’ becomes widespread. Savvy lawyers start demanding the docs (which of course they are legally entitled to do) — foreclosures freeze, lawsuits fly, the RMBS market stagnates, the big banks get hit, and so on.

Tips to ensure the TSA doesn't swipe your stuff

Since it was created in 2001, the agency has fired about 200 employees accused of stealing. Although the TSA has taken steps to discourage these government workers from helping themselves to our personal effects — including background checks on new hires, video cameras in screening areas and rules forbidding backpacks or lunchboxes at checkpoints — more and more passengers like Fleiss are coming forward to say they’ve been ripped off by the very people who are supposed to protect them.

Congress and the IRS Tell 500,000 Foreign Financial Institutions to “Get Lost”

The law imposes a 30% withholding tax on certain types of U.S-source income and gross sales proceeds to foreign financial institutions (FFIs) and many non-financial foreign entities (NFFE). (Broadly speaking, a NFFE is any non-U.S. entity that is not a FFI.) The only way to avoid the tax is for the FFI or a “withholding agent” for the FNFE to enter into a broad-based information reporting agreement with the IRS. These rules become effective in 2013.

'Fusion centers' gather terrorism intelligence – and much more

Designed to share data and head off attacks, the 72 offices in the U.S. are starting to worry civil libertarians. Ken Delanian -- LA Times Reporting from Baltimore — About a year ago, a police officer in Maryland noticed a truck loaded with plastic pallets driving down a main road in the early morning. He normally wouldn't have given it a second look, but the officer had seen a bulletin from the state's "coordination and analysis center" advising that such thefts were costing bakeries and grocers hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Krugman: We can save Wall Street by raising taxes and killing off the sick people before they cost anything to treat! Cool, huh!

Economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman says the only way the U.S. will get its debt crisis under control is by the use of "death panels" and a national sales tax. The national sales tax, referred to as value-added tax (VAT), which governments across Europe use widely, will help cut the U.S deficit, Krugman argues. Krugman made his comments on ABC's “This Week with Christiane Amanpour” during a roundtable discussion about the economy and the recent findings of the U.S. Debt Reduction Commission. Here's the key excerpt:

The Coinage Act of April 2, 1792

(1 Stat. 246)

Statute I.

April 2, 1792 Chapter XVI.–An Act Establishing a Mint, and regulating the coins of the United States.

In other words, those people pushing those clad slugs on you and claiming it is real money are guilty of capital felony fraud against the people of the United States of America. String 'em up!

"The U.S. Has Lived On Borrowed Money For Too Long"

In an interview with SPIEGEL, German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble, 68, criticizes US calls for Germany to reduce exports, outlines his plans for an insolvency framework for indebted European nations and emphasizes the structural debt problems facing the United States. "The American growth model, on the other hand, is in a deep crisis. The United States lived on borrowed money for too long, inflating its financial sector unnecessarily and neglecting its small and mid-sized industrial companies. There are many reasons for America's problems, but they don't include German export surpluses."
