The top U.S. military officer said Monday that the danger of war or hostilities on the Korean peninsula is rising, as North Korea warned that cooperation between its southern neighbor and the United States could trigger a nuclear war.
Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told troops in Baghdad that North Korea has upped the ante in its aggression against South Korea -- a pattern he said is tied to preparations for Kim Jong Il to pass power to his son.

Memo to Adm. Mike Mullen: if there is a war on the Korean peninsula, it will be because those in the bowels of power in DC want a war to happen.
And as you well know, Admiral Mullen, when the live fire exercises were announced by South Korea, North Korean military called the South Korean Military requesting that they not fire on disputed waters, and that there would be a military response on the part of South Korea should move forward with this; South Korea ignored North Korea's request, so we had a reaction from the North Koreans which took the shape of a North Korean attack on Yeonpyeong Island.
War between the two Koreas will inevitably involve the US on the side of South Korea, and China, on the side of North Korea.
China absolutely doesn't want military confrontation at this point in time; urban unrest (due to factory employees demanding better treatment), inflation, and the restive Western provinces are issues the Chinese government has to find ways of addressing.
But for many in the bowels of power in DC, a potential war against China sounds like a good thing, as barking-dog mad as such a notion might seem. And the rationale?!/
1. The US was unsuccessful at getting China to revalue its currency at the last G-20.
2. The US government cannot possibly begin to pay back the billions it has borrowed from China to pursue the immoral - and illegal - wars it is currently pursuing. Should the US defeat China, that debt goes away.
3. Some think that another war will distract many American citizens from the sheer economic misery into which the policies of this administration have driven them. However, a memo to the White House, State Department, Pentagon, and Congress: don't bet on it!!
Bank of America Corp has put up for sale at least $1 billion worth of toxic mortgage assets, the New York Post said on Monday, citing sources. The severity of my situation goes a bit deeper than "I owe this money, help me" - I am actually forced to live with my parents (forced = I am lucky! But...) as the monthly payments for just my private loans are currently $891 until Nov 2011 when they increase to $1600 per month for the following 20 years... attached is my payment plan. I also mentioned I have a job - which is great! And I probably have my college education to thank for that! Except there is still no way to make these monthly payments, and live on my own as a contributing member of society. Neither of my parents, nor I, really knew how this would pan out — unfortunately — and now that I'm here, I see no real light at the end of the tunnel.
