Father of teen killed in Gaza flotilla raid seeks American justice

Furkan was an American citizen who was born in the U.S. His father will be meeting with Congress members Tuesday and on Wednesday speak with members of the State Department and the Ministry of Justice.

"Furkan was an American citizen of Turkish origin and the American government hasn’t done anything for him - so I have come to seek justice for him here," Professor Do?an tells Haaretz. "I want the United States to demand justice for its citizen, and support decisions related to this [injustice] at the UN. We are very disappointed by the way the U.S. has handled the events until now, because in theory the U.S. is supposed to view all of its citizens equally."

Do?an believes the U.S. gives more weight to its relationship with Israel than to the welfare of its own citizens.

Fake Al Qaeda

"The truth is, there is no Islamic army or terrorist group called Al Qaida. And any informed intelligence officer knows this. But there is a propaganda campaign to make the public believe in the presence of an identified entity representing the 'devil' only in order to drive the TV watcher to accept a unified international leadership for a war against terrorism. The country behind this propaganda is the US . . ." -- Former British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook

ACLU Fights for Your Right To Protest

Actually protest?! Where they can see and hear you?!?

Today, the district court held that our clients' case deserves to move forward. It held that "First Amendment law forbidding viewpoint-based restrictions on speech was...clearly established at the time of the event and would put a reasonable official on notice that disparate treatment of protesters based on their viewpoint was unlawful." After devoting 20 pages to carefully reviewing the facts, it concluded that a reasonable jury could conclude that law enforcement engaged in viewpoint discrimination. The case is not over...

Two CIA contractors spirited out of Pakistan

(Reuters) - Two U.S. citizens with diplomatic status were quietly withdrawn from Pakistan after being involved in a fatal car accident last month while trying to help Raymond Davis, a CIA contractor being held by Pakistani authorities on murder charges.

Editors Note: Keep in mind that these agents were also involved with providing Al Qaeda operatives with "nuclear fissile material" and "biological agents". This is what the U.S. is attempting to cover up.

Libya: Defections leave Muammar Gaddafi isolated in Tripoli bolthole

Muammar Gaddafi was looking increasingly isolated after damaging defections by senior regime figures and key military commanders and units as the uprising spread closer to Tripoli.

Libyan and Arab sources said the biggest blow to Gaddafi so far had been the defection of his interior minister and veteran loyalist, Abdel-Fatah Younes al-Obeidi, who called on the army on Tuesday to "serve the people and support the revolution and its legitimate demands".

Webmaster's Commentary: Gaddafi cannot hold this together for much longer. I would almost be willing to bet that he has all his financial assets "parked" out of the country, and is trying to figure out which country will actually take him. Perhaps Mugabe's Zimbabwe might do it, or one of the leaders of other African nations. But right now, the world is, rightfully, treating this merciless assassin against his own people as though he were kryptonite.

MERS Can Foreclose in California, State Appeals Court Rules

Merscorp Inc., operator of the electronic-registration system that contains about half of all U.S. home mortgages, has the right to foreclose on defaulted borrowers in California, a state appeals court ruled.

U.S. courts have differed in recent years on whether Merscorp’s Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems, or MERS, unit has the right to bring a foreclosure action.

“Under California law MERS may initiate a foreclosure as the nominee, or agent, of the noteholder,” California Court of Appeal Justice Joan K. Irion in San Diego wrote in a Feb. 18 ruling.

On prank call, Wis. governor discusses strategy

The call also revealed Walker's cozy relationship with two billionaire brothers who have poured millions of dollars into conservative political causes, including Walker's campaign last year.
Walker compared his stand to that taken by President Ronald Reagan when he fired the nation's air-traffic controllers during a labor dispute in 1981.
"That was the first crack in the Berlin Wall and led to the fall of the Soviets," Walker said on the recording.

CIA Agent Caught Red-Handed Aiding Pakistani Terrorism?

But the deeper story is that Davis allegedly actively aided and abetted terrorism. As CNN notes:

Some newspapers cited unnamed sources to link Davis with "terrorist activity" and the Pakistani Taliban.

"CIA agent Davis had ties with local militants," read the headline in The Express Tribune.

The Tribune quoted an unnamed "senior police official" as saying Davis was suspected in masterminding terrorist activity.

"His close ties with the TTP (The Pakistani Taliban) were revealed during the investigations," the paper quoted the police official as saying. "Davis was instrumental in recruiting young people from Punjab for the Taliban to fuel the insurgency."

"Tapes Depict Proposal to Thwart
Bomb Used in Trade Center Blast" By Ralph Blumenthal

Law-enforcement officials were told that terrorists were building a bomb that was eventually used to blow up the World Trade Center, and they planned to thwart the plotters by secretly substituting harmless powder for the explosives, an informer said after the blast.

The informer was to have helped the plotters build the bomb and supply the fake powder, but the plan was called off by an F.B.I. supervisor who had other ideas about how the informer, Emad Salem, should be used, the informer said.

ISRAEL’S DELUSIONAL PRESIDENT

Quite often we see wisdom come with age…. other times we see senility instead. The latter seems to be the case with Israel’s 88 year old president, Shimon Peres. Either that or he just remembered that in 1994 he undeservingly received the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in producing the Oslo Accords which he helped to destroy.

Suddenly the old man is talking Peace again, in a most unrealistic way…. a man that has the executive power to pardon every innocent Palestinian that is languishing in Israeli prisons, including those that are serving long terms for minor offences…. including the HUNDREDS of children being held without ever being charged. That alone could lead to meaningful Peace talks between Israel and Palestine….

Clarence Thomas hits five years without asking a question

Justice Clarence Thomas hasn't asked a question during the Supreme Court's oral arguments for five years. He has said the sessions are unnecessary and maybe even a sideshow, but other justices do not agree.

Reporting from Washington — Eight justices of the Supreme Court engaged in a fast-paced argument Tuesday morning over whether a female microbiologist who tried to poison her husband's lover with a toxic chemical could be charged under a federal law intended to regulate chemical weapons.

And one justice, as usual, said nothing during the argument. Tuesday marked five years since Justice Clarence Thomas last asked a question during the court's oral arguments.

Breaking the siege of Gaza is high priority for Egypt’s young revolutionaries

Young participants in the 25th January Egyptian revolution have told the Palestine Information Centre that Egypt has been freed from a tyrannical regime and breaking the siege of Gaza is high on their list of priorities. Ousting Hosni Mubarak was difficult, they said, but it was just the beginning of the revolution, not the end. In Tahrir Square, they added, all sections of Egyptian society were united, including Muslims and Christians; leftists and members of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Indiana Official: "Use Live Ammunition" Against Wisconsin Protesters

On Saturday night, when Mother Jones staffers tweeted a report that riot police might soon sweep demonstrators out of the Wisconsin capitol building—something that didn't end up happening—one Twitter user sent out a chilling public response: "Use live ammunition."

From my own Twitter account, I confronted the user, JCCentCom. He tweeted back that the demonstrators were "political enemies" and "thugs" who were "physically threatening legally elected officials." In response to such behavior, he said, "You're damned right I advocate deadly force." He later called me a "typical leftist," adding, "liberals hate police."

Only later did we realize that JCCentCom was a deputy attorney general for the state of Indiana.

Malta turns back 'Gaddafi kin jet'

A Libyan plane reportedly carrying the daughter of Muammar Gaddafi, Libya's leader, has been turned back from Malta after it was denied permission to land.

"The [crew] initially said they had 14 people on board. They were circling overhead saying they were running low on fuel," Cal Perry, Al Jazeera's correspondent in Malta, said.

"At that point the ambassador from Libya who was here in Malta was called in to take part in the negotiations on whether or not they were going to allow this plane to land.

"As he entered the talks it became clear from the pilots that Ayse Gaddhafi, Muammar Gaddhafi's only daughter, was aboard the plane. The government said it was an unscheduled flight, it doesn't matter who is on board; they said it cannot land and diverted the plane back to Libya."

‘US won’t allow democracy in Arab world’

Interview with writer and radio host Stephen Lendman

Press TV: Do you think that the US is being caught by surprise?

Lendman: I do not think that Washington is at all caught by surprise. I think the hand of Washington is very much involved in everything going on throughout the region and not just in the Egypt — certainly in Yemen, Tunisia and Algeria.

Even the Saudis are a little bit worried. For the first time since the Saudis established what they call a government — they have no elections, but they have a government which was established in 1932 — a political party was formed, called “The Islamic Ummah Party.”

Now King Abdullah has to give it his seal of approval. The last I have heard is that he has not done that yet, but the fact is that a party is formed.

How the Mossad Tricked US into Bombing Libya

On the night of February 17-18, two Israeli missile boats, the SAAR 4-class Moledet, armed with Harpoon and Gabriel surface-to-surface missiles, among other weaponry, and the Geula, a Hohit-class mlsslle boat with a helicopter pad and regular SAAR 4-class armament, conducted what seemed like a routine patrol of the Mediterranean, heading for the Sicilian channel and passing just outside the territorial waters of Libya. Just north of Tripoli, the warships, which were visible to radar both in Tripoli and on the Italian island of Lampedusa, slowed down to about four knots - just long enough to allow a team of twelve naval commandos in four wet submarines nicknamed "pigs" and two low-profiled speedboats called "birds" to disembark.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is why a sudden "revelation" about Qaddafi and Pan Am 103 at Lockerbie must be taken with a large grain of salt, coming conveniently at this time as it does. After all, the investigators at Lockerbie reported the evidence used to frame Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al Megrahi was found to be false, and al Megrahi eventually freed. So, if the Libyan suspect was actually innocent, then claims that Qaddafi gave him any orders must of course be another hoax.
