The corporate media has attempted, with absolutely no evidence, to blame the Tucson shooting on right wing extremists and 9/11“truthers.”
Instead of doing their job, these government talking heads have accepted the official story and worked tirelessly to spread the government line.
Media pundits have shamelessly used this horrendous attack to further restrict free speech and attack opponents of draconian measures such as the health care bill and the Patriot Act.
The trade imbalance between the US and China, a hot button between the nations for the last decade or so, is finally going to start to stabilize in the summer of 2011. However, it is doing so with a de facto devaluation of the US dollar and its buying power. The average American will see a spike in the price of everything from their favorite jeans and T-shirts, to the cost of some electronics. The Chinese have decided to devalue the US dollar’s buying power, without devaluing the US Treasury holdings they hold. It is an elegant solution to their issues.

Really? What genius thinks this is a solution? MORE money will now flow out of the US into China to pay for the suddenly more expensive goods, because the USA cannot manufacture competing goods, and probably will not be able to even tool-up the factories to do so for at least a year! So for the next year at least Americans will pay more to get less.

Forget closing Guantánamo Bay -- President Barack Obama has reportedly green-lighted a plan to begin charges against new detainees at the controversial off-shore prison for the first time under his administration.
"The Obama administration is preparing to increase the use of military commissions to prosecute Guantánamo detainees, an acknowledgment that the prison in Cuba remains open for business after Congress imposed steep new impediments to closing the facility," the New York Times reported. Administration officials told the newspaper they were preparing military tribunal trials for several suspected terrorists at the prison, signaling a major policy shift for Obama in the face of high pressure from Congressional Republicans and numerous Democrats.

It is obvious that this Administration absolutely eschews the rule of law.
If this were not the case, these people would be tried, and found guilty or innocent, according to US law, where the standard for conviction has to be beyond a reasonable doubt.
The military tribunal criteria is much "softer" than that standard.
And one has to wonder if, according to this administration, some of these people cannot be tried in a civilian court, because waterboarding wasn't the worst thing which was done to them, and they don't want the public to see or hear what was done to them in order to obtain their "confessions".
The lack of any work and the extreme poverty of the large extended families has drawn the boys and men to scavenge for broken concrete ('gravel') in the evacuated Eli Sinai 'settlement' and in the industrial zone by the Erez border control post at the northern limit of the 'Strip'. The factories of the industrial zone have been progressively demolished by Israeli shelling etc. They are seen to the west as one enters Gaza through Erez. A donkey and cart, shovel, pick, sieve, muscles and courage are the tools. The rubble is used to make cement blocks and poured concrete with the cement that is imported largely through the tunnels. The following article was first written in 1998. I am relinking it here not so much as to say "I told you so", but to point out that the long term economic future of the United States was obvious, or should have been obvious, to the people who are awarded lofty degrees and paid huge salaries to comprehend such things. Instead, the economists persisted in explaining away the visible signs of gathering troubles and earned their salaries by justifying why the policies that robbed the poor to give to the rich should continue unabated.
Don’t panic, but anyone planning on using GPS in the southeastern US for the next month or so will likely want to make sure they have a fallback option.
That’s according to a flight advisory just issued by the FAA, which warns pilots that their GPS signal “may be unreliable or unavailable” due to “GPS tests” that the Department of Defense will be conducting between January 20th and February 22nd.
For the last few months we have received tips and reports from credible sources, including multiple truck drivers in the mid west, who have reported that their GPS systems were going haywire.

What could cause an economic collapse in 2011? Well, unfortunately there are quite a few "nightmare scenarios" that could plunge the entire globe into another massive financial crisis. The United States, Japan and most of the nations in Europe are absolutely drowning in debt. The Federal Reserve continues to play reckless games with the U.S. dollar. The price of oil is skyrocketing and the global price of food just hit a new record high. Food riots are already breaking out all over the world. Meanwhile, the rampant fraud and corruption going on in world financial markets is starting to be exposed and the whole house of cards could come crashing down at any time. Most Americans have no idea that a horrific economic collapse could happen at literally any time. There is no way that all of this debt and all of this financial corruption is sustainable. At some point we are going to reach a moment of "total system failure".
So will it be soon? Let's hope not. Let's certainly hope that it does not happen in 2011. Many of us need more time to prepare. Most of our families and friends need more time to prepare. Once this thing implodes there isn't going to be an opportunity to have a "do over". We simply will not be able to put the toothpaste back into the tube again.

Behind the China bashing there is a truth about America you need to deal with.
One of the biggest of those experiments was NanoSail-D, a microsatellite containing a solar sail that was to eject from FASTSAT and then open in space. NASA had to announce two weeks later that NanoSail-D apparently never deployed.
But now it has. The ejection "occurred spontaneously" and was discovered this morning by engineers analyzing data sent down from FASTSAT. The launch has also been confirmed by ground-based radar.
NASA is asking amateur ham operators to listen for the signal to verify NanoSail-D is operating. This information should be sent to the NanoSail-D dashboard at: http://nanosaild.engr.scu.edu/dashboard.htm. The NanoSail-D beacon signal can be found at 437.270 MHz.
