The nation's most prominent publicly funded climatologist is officially angry about this, blaming democracy and citing the Chinese government as the "best hope" to save the world from global warming. He also wants an economic boycott of the U.S. sufficient to bend us to China's will.

Helen Thomas: "Say One Word About Israel & You're Anti Semitic!"

“You touch Israel and you are finished.”

Claim 2010 tied with warmest year ever lacks historical perspective

You would think that NOAA, the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration would be an objective and sober reviewer of temperature data. Apparently they are not. NOAA has proclaimed that 2010 was tied with 2005 as the “warmest year on record.” At first this sounds impressive. But as with all political proclamations there is always more to the story. The statement “warmest on record” means the period of time since 1880 that temperature has been measured with thermometers. To say the 2010 was tied with the warmest year on record is essentially meaningless when viewed in a true historical context.

Alarming Evidence of a Leaking Macondo Prospect: The BP Gulf Oil Spill Continues

This letter represents a turning point for the Gulf Oil Spill Remediation Conference in that this International Citizens’ Initiative has decided that overwhelming evidence exists that points to a situation that has not been properly addressed. Therefore, the coastline of the Gulf of Mexico sits in a state of abeyance of sorts. Until the residents who domicile there, and citizens who work there, are transparently apprised of the true state of the blown out well and surrounding area, this conference will not rest.

MSNBC’s Matthews: If You Oppose Obama You’re a CRACKER

Webmaster's Commentary: Ritz, or Saltine?

WikiLeaks says Iran pursuing atomic bomb. Really. Honest. No kidding.

(Just in time to derail the upcoming Jan. 21-22 nuclear talks between Iran and major powers in the world, along comes yet another Wiki”leak” which purports to expose Iran as rushing to obtain a nuclear weapon or materials to build one. This of course is based on no factual information but instead its compiled from interagency gossip and rumor milling collected from hundreds of cables supposedly sent from actors inside the state department. The nuclear talks look to be a good opportunity to disarm the tense situation in the Middle East, but just like the state department did with the tensions in Korea, they are obviously using these fake or erroneous cables to stir the pot as much as they can before peace can break out region.)

Century-old scotch returned from Antarctic trip

But the precious bottles were found intact, and researchers could hear the whisky sloshing around inside. Antarctica's minus 22 Fahrenheit (-30 Celsius) temperature was not enough to freeze the liquor, dating from 1896 or 1897, and experts said it was in remarkably good condition.

Homeland Security's laptop seizures: Interview with Rep. Sanchez

When you really think about it, it's simply inconceivable that the U.S. Government gets away with doing this. Seizing someone's laptop, digging through it, recording it all, storing the data somewhere, and then distributing it to various agencies is about the most invasive, privacy-destroying measure imaginable. A laptop and its equivalents reveal whom you talk to, what you say, what you read, what you write, what you view, what you think, and virtually everything else about your life. It can -- and often does -- contain not only the most private and intimate information about you, but also information which the government is legally barred from accessing (attorney/client or clergy/penitent communications, private medical and psychiatric information and the like). But these border seizures result in all of that being limitlessly invaded. This is infinitely more invasive than the TSA patdowns that caused so much controversy just two months ago. What kind of society allows government agents -- without any cause -- to seize all of that whenever they want, without limits on whom they can do this to, what they access, how they can use it: even without anyone knowing what they're doing?

U.S. Starts to Call in Loans to States for Unemployment Benefits

Things are not getting any easier for cash-strapped state governments. On top of the $82 billion deficit that states collectively face, more than half of them will soon have to pay interest on billion-dollar loans from the federal government to provide unemployment benefits.

The CEO and the New Feudalism

The flip side of the excess CEO compensation coin is the push by these same CEOs for so-called labour flexibility. Historically, this set of policies -- which have had the effect in Canada of flatlining real wages since 1980 -- are a reversal of Fordism, the principle established by Henry Ford whereby he paid his workers enough to allow them to purchase the cars they made. This reversal -- with workers receiving almost none of the productivity gains for two generations -- has resulted in the accumulation of unsustainable debt by Canadian (and American) working families. Government and corporate obsession with globalization and trade has allowed the domestic economy to erode. The geniuses in the economics departments and financial firms thought trade would grow forever. Now that it is faltering and they need the domestic economy to fall back on, planned inequality has critically weakened it.

DoJ veteran sees ‘dangerous precedent’ in letting Bush officials walk

In a rare blistering attack on the Department of Justice, a career veteran of the agency recently told Raw Story that the Obama administration handing Bush-era officials "a get out of jail free card” sets “a dangerous precedent" that could encourage other offenses by future leaders.

"It's Been A Living Nightmare" - JPMorgan Admits To Illegally Overcharging THOUSANDS Of Troops On Mortgages, And Wrongful Military Foreclosures

Video - NBC Exclusive - Jan. 17 - This pushes the boundaries of outrage...

A Chase official tells NBC News that 4,000 U.S. service members may have been illegally overcharged on their mortgages and that as many as 14 military families were wrongly foreclosed on.

"Saturday, Sundays, middle of the night. It did not matter if it was a holiday," Julia said. “Collection calls at 3 in the morning. He would state, "I'm in California. I'm stationed here in Miramar. It's 3 in the morning. What are you doing calling me?" "Well, sir, this is an attempt to collect a debt."

She said they threatened to take the house and report the family to a credit agency, even though the Rowles family didn't owe the bank anything and never missed a payment.

Tunisia - the people’s revolution

Yvonne Ridley comments on the British media's lopsided coverage of the uprising in Tunisia - devoting airtime to the inconvenience caused to UK tourists and focusing on the role of social media rather than the "revolutionaries who physically took to the streets and faced down live ammunition, baton charges and tear gas".

Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Tools of Freedom: FULL TEXT 'Letter from a Birmingham Jail'

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Ed. Note: For Americans that actually care about justice, rather than just give it lip service, it is important to note that in 1999 during a televised trial, yet unknown to the masses of asses, Dr. William Pepper won his case, proving that there had been a conspiracy that colluded in the murder of Dr. King, that it was not James Earl Ray, that in fact was all of your favorite fascist suspect factions of the Memphis Police, the Tennessee State Police, the FBI, the CIA and the US Military.
