NASA climate programs being eyed for the budget axe

NASA spent over a billion dollars last year on climate change studies…which would you rather have? Pronouncements about death trains, expert testimony for climate vandals, failed predictions, failed models, and a questionable GISTEMP dataset, or a continued manned spaceflight program?

LED products billed as eco-friendly contain toxic metals, study finds

Those light-emitting diodes marketed as safe, environmentally preferable alternatives to traditional lightbulbs actually contain lead, arsenic and a dozen other potentially hazardous substances, according to newly published research.

“LEDs are touted as the next generation of lighting. But as we try to find better products that do not deplete energy resources or contribute to global warming, we have to be vigilant about the toxicity hazards of those marketed as replacements,” said Oladele Ogunseitan, chair of UC Irvine’s Department of Population Health & Disease Prevention.

Now See The 11 Countries At Risk Of Becoming The Next Egypt

The Founding Fathers Would Be Proud of the People of Egypt ... And Disgusted With the People of America

The Egyptian people have stood up for their freedom, winning it from the Mubarak dictatorship (with the help of the army, which refused to fire a shot at the people, and may even have helped convince Mubarak to leave. See this and this).

The Egyptian people found their courage even when Mubarak's thugs flew fighter jets low over their heads, beat and murdered protesters, and otherwise threatened violence.

But the American people today have been cowed into passivity by an irrational fear of terrorism, laziness and mindlessness.

CARTOONS THAT CATAPULT REVOLUTIONS

Israel already whining how Mubarak's fall is really bad for their contnued starvation of Gaza

For Israel, the popular uprising against the Mubarak regime raises the specter of its worst strategic nightmare: collapse of the peace treaty with Egypt, the cornerstone of its regional policy for the past three decades.

That is not the inevitable outcome of the unrest; a modified version of the Mubarak government could survive and retain the “cold peace” with Israel. But if, in a worst case scenario, democratic or Islamic forces were to come to power denouncing Israel and repudiating the peace deal, that could herald the resurrection of a major military threat on Israel’s southern border.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Too bad. Israel created their own problems, and the US should stand back and let nature take its course. If Israel really are God's chosen people, then they do not need our tax dollars or the lives of our children to continue.

Playing the Global Warming Card

Cassandra Anderson Morph City

Man-made global warming (also known as climate change) claims have been thoroughly discredited by the "scientists" who perpetrated them through leaked e-mails in the 'Climategate' scandal. It seems like it should be a dead issue, but the truth is that too many resources have been invested in this scam to allow it to fade away. The global warming myth is thriving internationally, on the federal level and in state and local governments.

Fair Tax group lining up to file lawsuit

The Princeton Fair Tax Revaluation Commission, a group of citizens who are fighting the 2010 revaluation of the Princetons, are preparing to proceed with legal action to challenge what they call unjust assessments.

The group is alleging the revaluation, conducted by Appraisal Systems Incorporated, was flawed and led to inflated land values and deflated home values. This, in turn, has caused smaller homes on small lots to see large increases in their property taxes — some as much as 60 percent increases — and larger homes to loose value and decrease in taxable value.

Snow and ice cause fishing, recreational boats to sink

Within the past week there have been several incidents within southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island where recreational or small fishing vessels sunk at their pier or mooring due to excess weight from snow and ice. Two vessels are the Nelo 2 and the Victoria Elizabeth, boats which sank on Friday and Monday in Galilee. The Coast Guard will be releasing additional information about each sinking after further investigation.
As winter storms continue, more vessels may be at risk, wrote Verne Gifford in a press release from the United States Coast Guard.

White House threatens Hussain Haqqani: report

WASHINGTON: President Barack Obama’s national security advisor has threatened to boot Pakistan’s ambassador Hussain Haqqani from the country if a US official arrested in Lahore was not released by Friday, ABC News said.

Citing two Pakistani officials, ABC News said late Thursday that National Security Advisor Tom Donilon made the threat after summoning Haqqani to the White House on Monday.

He also warned US consulates in Pakistan may be closed and an upcoming visit to Washington by Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari could be cancelled if US official Raymond Davis was not freed.

While the White House has declined to comment, a senior US official confirmed the details of the report to ABC News.

Turkey: Marmara raid victims shot at close range

A Turkish government inquiry into the IDF raid on a Gaza-bound flotilla that killed eight Turks and a Turkish-American says Israeli soldiers shot five victims from close range.

The report released Friday says two of the victims were killed even before soldiers boarded the Turkish ship in May. The report also says Israel blatantly violated international laws.

Webmaster's Commentary: Israeli commandos massacred these unarmed aid workers in cold blood: then the Israeli government lied about it.

Over 100 under investigation in Iceland bank crash probe

Iceland’s Special Prosecutor into the banking crisis says that well over a hundred people are being investigated by his office.

Olafur Thor Hauksson told Frettatiminn that well over a hundred people are legally classified as suspects in his team’s investigations into the causes of the Icelandic banking crisis — adding that the number is set to increase quickly in the near future.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Iceland has the right idea. The bankers who scammed the world with the fraudulent mortgage-backed securities ought to be in jail awaiting trial, not bailed out of trouble by looting the people.

Top UN human rights official to visit Iran

"I will be going because it is part of my mandate to protect the human rights of Iran," Pillay said on Friday at a Jerusalem press conference, that wrapped up her week visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories.

"I have been invited by the national human rights institution of Iran," said Pillay who added that her upcoming visit had the support of the Iranian government.

Pillay told reporters at the Jerusalem press conference that she had sent a letter to Ayalon, on Thursday in which she said, "I was surprised to read that you, according to this press statement, had expressed 'fear that the forthcoming visit of the High Commissioner to Iran will legitimize the Iranian regime, and that you had asked me to 'cancel' this supposedly' forthcoming visit.

Webmaster's Commentary: OK, Israeli DFM Ayalon, if Iran so blatantly "violates human rights", why is it that you can't get Iranian Jews to leave the country, and come to Israel? And in terms of maliciously violating human rights and creating genocide, what Israel is doing to the Palestinians and Bedouins surely qualifies on that score!

Arizona sues US government over illegal immigrants

AFP/Activist Post

PHOENIX, Arizona (AFP) - Arizona is counter-suing the US government, charging that Washington has failed to protect it from an invasion of illegal immigrants and related violent crime, its governor has said.

The lawsuit, which seeks federal compensation, is in response to a federal lawsuit filed by President Barack Obama's administration last year challenging Arizona's enforcement of a new immigration law along the US-Mexican border.

Women, Children of Bedouin Village El Araqib Beaten as they Silently Protest 16th Demolition of their Homes

Women and children of the Bedouin village of Al Araqib were beaten and gassed by Israel forces Thursday morning (10/2), in an attempt to halt the 16th demolition of their homes and property.

"The police harshly beat the women and children who were standing in quiet protest, they simply beat women and children…I stood alongside a woman who was beaten by four police officers, actual fists in her face, ears and neck, in addition to kicks until she almost lost consciousness…people are sitting on the ground, in the rain, and not moving, women and children. The police shot stun grenades and foam bullets directly at the women, at point blank," reported Tamar, an activist who was present in the village.

Webmaster's Commentary: How macho it must make members of the IDF feel, beating up women and children? to the point they have to be hospitalized!?!

The Israeli government and the IDF fear this kind of confrontation horribly, because non-violent resistance always makes the aggressors look like precisely what they are: wretchedly apartheid buffoons, beating up the innocent who are only peacefully standing up for their human rights.

US vows to oppose UN resolution on Israel

The United States, a veto-wielding permanent UN Security Council member, will use "the tools that we have" to block a resolution condemning Israeli settlements, a top US diplomat said Thursday.

"We have made very clear that we do not think the Security Council is the right place to engage on these issues," Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg told the House of Representatives' Foreign Affairs Committee.

America’s Legacy of Mutagenic War

A series of disturbing reports from Iraq and Vietnam (backed up by a horrific collection of videos) have exposed a hidden legacy of war — weapons that continue to create victims years after the conflict has ended.

Thanks to the US military’s embrace of Mutagenic Weapons — technologies that can poison cell tissue and ransack the human DNA far into the future — babies and children have become the latest form of "collateral damage." Today, in Vietnam and in Iraq (and in Kosovo and Afghanistan), children are being born with deadly cancers, grotesque tumors, twisted or missing limbs, freakishly enlarged heads, and a range of horrific mutations.

Afghan president confirms US demand for permanent bases

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has confirmed for the first time that the Obama administration has demanded the establishment of a system of permanent US military bases across the country, effectively laying the basis for an indefinite neo-colonial occupation.

Karzai stated that his government was negotiating with US officials on a range of strategic agreements, including the permanent bases. He said Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had discussed the issue with him during last week’s Munich Security Conference in Germany.

Webmaster's Commentary: Translation: the US is never leaving Afghanistan!

Turkey Gaza flotilla probe: Five shot dead at close range

The report released Friday says two of the victims were killed even before soldiers boarded the Turkish ship in May. The report says Israel blatantly violated international laws.

Ahmadinejad: No Israel in new Mideast

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Friday called on Western powers not to "interfere" in the situation in Egypt and Tunisia and warned them to withdraw their support for Israel.

According to the Iranian leader, the recent developments in the Middle East will diminish the influence of the United States and Israel in the region. "In spite of all the satanic schemes, with the help of God and the people's resistance, the new Middle East will turn into a region without the United States and the Zionist regime, and the arrogant powers will have no place in this Middle East. Soon, the entire world will experience the sweet taste of a world without Zionists and thugs."

Obama Launches Total Takeover of Media System

Even the Washington Post describes it like something out of Orwell’s 1984. The FCC has approved a presidential alert system. Obama may soon appear on your television or call your cell phone to warn you about the next specious al-Qaeda underwear bombing event.

If implemented, the president will be able to commandeer your smart phone any time he wants and for any reason the government deems necessary.

In addition to your cell phone, the government wants to take control of your internet broadband in the event another phony terror attack threatens the homeland.

The system would break into your computer or wireless device and broadcast presidential propaganda announcements, FEMA reports, so-called “Imminent Threat Alerts,” and AMBER Alerts.

Webmaster's Commentary: George Orwell was not only a brilliant writer; over the years, he has proven to be a prophet.

FLASHBACK: WHO IS THE US CONGRESS LISTENING TO?

Why would the US Congress, which supposedly exists to serve the will of the AMERICAN people, be obeying the will of Israel?

Well, maybe because Israel's PACs, including lobbying/spying organization AIPAC, are PAYING THEM TO! (And may have used money looted from American investors by Bernie Madoff to do it!)

You heard me. Members of AIPAC, the organization suspected of spying for Israel, donate vast sums of money to the members of US Congress. And the US Congress has sold our young men and women in uniform to go off and fight and die in wars Israel has created.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The people of Egypt just freed themselves from a government controlled by Israel.

When will Americans have the courage to do the same?

Analyst: U.S. To Lose In Yemen As In Afghanistan, Iraq

Al-Qaeda in Yemen is no more than an instrument which President Saleh uses to persuade the US administration that he is their strategic partner in need of financial and military support, especially amid present-day conditions.

In this situation, the US came to realize that old plans, which are absolutely irrelevant today, were focused on a non-actual danger. This means that America will lose here as well, just as it happened in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Yet again, "President" (for life) Ali Saleh is no more than another tinpot dictator, propped up by US aid and military assistance. He is alleged to be the person who can create "stability" for the US in the region, in spite of the fact that his regime has been characterized as one of the most corrupt in the region, and that is saying something.

What happened in Egypt may well sweep through Yemen also, and ultimately, not all the suppression of Yemen's people Saleh's government can create can stop it.

Congratulations, Egypt!

Who Wants Grandma to Freeze?

When National Journal first reported that President Obama's budget will cut a popular home heating-assistance program for the poor, it got Democrats furious and pundits wondering.

The Democratic nominee for president before Obama, Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., denounced the proposed cut. So did Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., and many others especially from cold weather states. After all, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Plan is about as sacrosanct as, say, the Head Start program for low-income children.

LIHEAP helps the poor stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer. And since it's disproportionately the elderly who are reliant on the program, it engenders even more sympathy. Who wants Grandma freezing?

Homeowners Accociations Now in the Fraudclosure Scam Too.

People who live in deed restricted communities need to be informed what they are getting into. It is the responsibility of the property owner to read all contracts, restrictions on the deed and agreements with the homeowners Associations. They need to attend these board meetings and remove the people off these panels who run these Homeowners Associations like a mini banana republic. They are run out of control because people's lack of involvement is part of the problem. Like I said apathy is no longer a luxury of the past. Apathy is the reason it has gotten so bad.If we do not keep watch of these Homeowner Associations. They will keep steam rolling over people without any consequence.Wake up people.

The Reign of the Psychopaths

While watching events unfold these past weeks in Egypt, it became apparent to me that the United States is suffering from a foreign policy malady frighteningly analogous to psychopathic personality disorder.

That the Egyptian people have rebelled against such a regime should come as no surprise. And one would expect that the American government – itself the creation of a revolution against an authoritarian monarchy – would support their cause, at least morally if not materially.

Such an assumption, though, presumes the presence of a degree of empathy that our government simply no longer possesses.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US has a long, unsavory, and quite well-documented history of putting, and keeping, thugs in power, because they are "our thugs", and will maintain "stability" in those countries they run, usually with barbarous, merciless efficiency against their own people.

What those in the bowels of power in the US consistently fail to take into account is the reality that guns, bullets, and torture can hold a people down for only so long; after that, people start to understand that in order to achieve a better life, they have to take matters into their own hands, and do so.

Ask the people of Chile who lived under the rule of Pinochet; ask the people of Iran who lived under the Shah; ask the people of Cuba who lived under the rule of Batista; ask the people of Romania who lived under Ceausescu, and ask the people of Egypt who have just made such a courageous stand against Mubarak, and they will tell you the same thing.

Ultimately, with an oppressive regime, there is a point of no return, and people find the courage to stand up, and demand something better, as just happened in Egypt.

Although one cannot predict where Suleiman's government may go (or how long it may be able to hold on, after Mubarak's ouster), look for a seachange in Egypt's political landscape come September when general elections are to be held.

At intel hearing, CIA chief seems unaware of planned resumption of India-Pakistan peace talks

Webmaster's Commentary: I knew this yesterday, reading an on-line resource, and that is a very positive step between India and Pakistan. But if I knew this, why the heck didn't "ignorance is apparently bliss" Panetta?!? That is more than a bit scary; it's downright terrifying!

Thousands March in Anti-Govt Protest in Baghdad

Officials have been downplaying the prospect of such protests in Iraq, but it seems that the Tunisia-Egypt bug has spread to Baghdad, where some 3,000 people marched through a Sunni neighborhood protesting against the corruption and incompetence of the Maliki government.

Webmaster's Commentary: Anyone remember the invasion and occupation of Iraq?!?

The problems with the US installed government, coupled with ethnic and religious tensions, are going to come back to haunt the US for a long time to come; what happened yesterday in Baghdad is just a foretaste.

Reminder: USA, like Egypt, also under Israeli proxy rule!

Israel attacked foreign flagged ships in international waters (the very activity the 6th fleet is killing Somali coastal patrol crews for), hijacked a US-flagged ship, and kidnapped 12 Americans, shooting one of them in the head 4 times.

A real President, who remembers that his job is to take care of America and Americans, would not rush to the UN to protect the nation that just attacked Americans.

A real Congress, who remembers that their job is to take care of America and Americans, would not hand Israel a license to murder more Americans anywhere in the world Israel decides they are an inconvenience!

No government can serve two masters, and a government that serves Israel cannot serve the American people. A friend to Israel is no friend of America.

In all three cases, they speak of Democracy. They speak of it as if it was an alien concept no longer valid in this day and age. In all three cases they speak not about what might be good for the country they supposedly represent, be it the United States, Egypt or Palestine. Instead they speak of a common denominator, what is good for Israel, with no regard to the aspirations of their own people.

In all three cases they have failed in the position they were put into. Two remain only because of outside pressures and support. One remains until a replacement is found. All three remain because Israel wants them to.

Globoctopus Tightens its Grip.

The Egyptians are doing what is necessary to force change. The workers are striking. This is the key action necessary to bring down a government when you lack the guns and the media. No government can endure a protracted shutdown of the economy. It was through the economy and the currency that corporations and a certain criminal banking country took over control of so many governments in the first place. I believe it is a principal law of most countries that the government cannot be ruled by a foreign power. Trafficking with influence for gain is a form of treason. It is widespread now, throughout the western world and the reason the economies are crumbling, due to the activities of corporations and banks.

Egypt crisis: 17 days of fluctuating US messages

The US has seemed constantly behind with the Egypt developments. Here is a timeline of their response from January 25.
Thursday, Feb. 10:

Mr Obama says Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's statement that he will not hand over power to his vice president is not enough to meet the demands of protesters clamouring for democratic change. Amid widespread reports that Mr Mubarak was likely to step down, US officials said earlier Mr Obama was closely following the "fluid situation" in Egypt while on a trip to Michigan. Leon Panetta, the CIA director, tells a congressional hearing on Thursday that the situation in Egypt is fluid and will depend on whether Egyptian leaders and the opposition are making the "right decisions at the right moments.

How the Government Will Take Control of Your Retirement Account

when politicians and bankers are in bed with each other, banks can be compelled to loan a portion of their deposits to the treasury at unrealistic terms, sticking bank customers with sub-optimal yields below the rate of inflation.

In the US, I think retirement accounts will be the first to go. They're the easiest to grab because most people hold their retirement accounts domestically with a large financial institution that will happily sell every customer down the river when the government comes calling.

Preempting The Bankster Terrorists And Taking America Back

What has been presented here is not a new methodology. Independent trade networks have been used as a form of revolution and to offset the implosions of faulty financial systems for centuries. This means that they are tried and true. During the Great Depression, over 200 complex barter networks with 300,000 members were instituted in the state of California alone. In times of distress, people inevitably turn back to barter. The problem is that most often these networks are established after the fact, instead of before a calamity takes place.

We seek to remedy this error. By constructing alternative markets before an event, we preempt the terror it creates, and make government interventions like Martial Law completely inapplicable.

Israel needs to help the U.S. to stabilize the region

It is customary to say that when the Hebrew month of Adar begins, we increase our joy. In general this is attributed to our victor over the wicked Haman. 'Mubarak, family leave Cairo for Sinai resort of Sharm el-Sheikh'

The Al Arabiya report came as Egypt's powerful military backed Mubarak's plan to stay in office until September elections earlier Friday, enraging hundreds of thousands of protesters who deluged the squares of Cairo and Alexandria and marched on presidential palaces and state television - key symbols of the authoritarian regime.

The army's show of solidarity with the president was a heavy blow to protesters who called on the military to take action to push Mubarak out after he announced Thursday night that he would hand most of his powers to Vice President Omar Suleiman but remain in office.

Egyptians hold 'Farewell Friday'

Massive crowds have gathered in Cairo's Tahrir (Liberation) Square on Friday, chanting "the army and the people are one, hand in hand".

Pro-democracy protesters had called for "millions" of Egyptians to take to the streets across the country, a day after Hosni Mubarak, Egypt's president, repeated his refusal to step down.

In a statement read out on state television at midday, the military announced that it would lift a 30-year-old emergency law but only "as soon as the current circumstances end".

The military said it would also guarantee changes to the constitution as well as a free and fair election, and it called for normal business activity to resume.

Many protesters, hoping for Mubarak's resignation, had anticipated a much stronger statement.

Mubarak stays, Egypt erupts in rage

Hosni Mubarak, the Egyptian president, provoked rage on the country's streets when, in an anticlimactic speech, he said he would hand some powers to his deputy, but disappointed protesters who had been expecting him to announce his resignation altogether after more than two weeks of unrest.

"Leave! Leave!" chanted thousands who had gathered in Cairo's Tahrir Square on Thursday in anticipation that a televised speech would be the moment their demands for an end to Mubarak's 30 years of authoritarian, one-man rule were met.

Instead, the 82-year-old former general portrayed himself as a patriot overseeing an orderly transition until elections in September, when his current term ends.

Egypt's most prominent dissident warned in a tweet Thursday night that the country "will explode" and appealed to the army for help.

"Egypt will explode. Army must save the country now," Mohamed ElBaradei, the former head of the nuclear watchdog IAEA, tweeted.

His warning of violence came minutes after President Hosni Mubarak declared in a speech that he would not step down as president until the September elections. Reporters at Cairo's Tahrir Square said the crowds there were angrier than they had seen them since protests broke out on Jan. 25.

Rich Get Richer When Governments Tout Austerity

Matthew Lynn Bloomberg

Remember all that stuff about how the credit crunch was going to usher in a new age of austerity? The financial industry would shrink; the gulf between the haves and the have-nots would close; and taxes would rise for the top earners, forcing them to contribute more to society. Well, guess what? It didn’t happen...

Egypt's Social Crisis: Financial Bonanza for Wall Street Investors and Speculators

Hidden Agenda behind Mubarak's Decision Not to Resign?

Mubarak's decision not to resign was taken in close consultation with Washington. The US administration including US intelligence had carefully identified the possible scenarios. If Washington had instructed Mubarak to step down, he would have obeyed forthright.

His decision not to resign indelibly serves US interests. It creates a situation of social chaos and political inertia, which in turn generates a vacuum in decision making at the government level.

The continued social crisis has also resulted in a massive outflow of money capital. More concretely, what this signifies is that Egypt's official foreign exchange reserves are being confiscated by major financial institutions.

Heavy snow wallops central Sweden

Winter has returned to central Sweden, with heavy snowfall of up to 20 centimetres expected on Thursday.

The weather has caused a number of road accidents throughout the country and all long-distance train traffic to and from Stockholm's Central Station has been interrupted since 2pm local time after a widespread signal failure at Älvjsö.

SL commuter train traffic is also affected by the stoppage. The interrupted is expected to be resolved shortly.

"The stop affects both southbound and northbound traffic. There are no trains at all between Stuvsta and Sundbyberg," said Tobbe Lundell, press officer at the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket).

A power failure is reported to have caused the error signal. SL has put in extra buses between Älvsjö and Liljeholmen.

Lawmakers Oppose Federal Bailout for States

The new Republican-led House is showing no appetite for making federal taxpayers help state and local governments cope with widespread budget problems. Even some Democrats are wary, underscoring the impact of Washington's crushing budget deficits.

Calif. governor drops plan to sell state buildings

California Gov. Jerry Brown announced Wednesday he is dropping a plan hatched by former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to sell 24 state government buildings to private investors because the high cost of rent did not make sense for taxpayers.

...The AP also reported in April that the Schwarzenegger administration quietly removed appointees from two oversight bodies that must sign off on the sale, replacing critics of the move with people who support it. The move was made as the state began taking bids on the properties, quashing any dissent or independent financial studies that might have emerged as the sale moved forward.

White House Responds to Blackout Controversy…

- Lies about Texas not being affected by draconian EPA rules on greenhouse gases.

- Deception about clean burning coal-fired plants producing “carbon pollution”.

- Spin in denying EPA and Obama administration have publicly stated and openly embarked on mission to destroy coal industry by blocking construction of new power plants.

The White House has publicly responded to the controversy surrounding the Obama administration’s agenda to bankrupt the coal industry and its connection to this week’s blackouts across the country, by attempting to deny the link in a rebuttal that amounts to nothing more than a tissue of lies, deception and spin.
