WASHINGTON — Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour (R) is accusing the Obama administration of deliberately driving up energy costs, comparing the destructiveness of high gas prices to the financial troubles of Wall Street.
“This administration’s policies have been designed to drive up the cost of energy in the name of reducing pollution, in the name of making very expensive alternative fuels more economically competitive,” said Barbour in a speech to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, DC on Tuesday morning.

A senior Israeli diplomat said Wednesday he has resigned because he does not want to represent his government's policies, particularly those of Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

The budget that Governor Walker announced today cannot be described by any of the usual terms. This is a budget that is targeted like a guided missile, and its target could not be more clear: Governor Walker wants to destroy the state's system of publicly funded education and replace it with charter schools (teaching certification not required), private schools, and private funding.
As of last year, there were roughly 15,000 vacant buildings in Chicago, 85 percent of which were caught in some stage of the foreclosure process, according to city figures.
Cities around the country face similar battles with such foreclosure ghost towns, struggling to cope with a growing number of empty properties left in the wake of the foreclosure crisis. Mortgage lenders alone have anywhere from 1.3 million to 5.3 million properties on their books, the vast majority sitting vacant while lenders wait for the housing market to improve.

Those who still adhere to the ‘One State Solution’ are living a dream. Civil strife continues to grow in major cities throughout Israel making that concept near to impossible. Ultra Orthodox rulings have virtually rendered the Palestinians (and all other non Jews) to be sub human creatures and have treated them as such. I'm beginning to think we are living in a moment of national insanity. On the one hand, we hear pious exhortations about education reform, endlessly uttered by our leaders in high political office, corporate suites, foundations, and the media. President Obama says we have to "out-educate" the rest of the world to "win the future."
Our schools remain subject to a failed federal accountability system. We are packing children into crowded classrooms, ignoring the growing levels of child poverty (the U.S. now leads all advanced nations in infant mortality), and putting fear into the hearts of our nation's teachers. Who will want to teach? How does any of this improve schools or benefit children? Do you understand it? I don't.
Webmaster's Commentary: Right now, the educational system in this country is rigged to fail our kids, and the only way to prevent that is for parents to be completely pro-active and involved with their kids' education, or to home school, if humanly possible.
Within the next 20 years, we may well see public education axed all together in this country, with education returning to the category of "privelege" rather than "right".

Online criminals have created a website for a nonexistent university and are using it to steal application fees from prospective students from abroad.
The fictitious school is called University of Redwood, and its website, www.uredwood.com, contains a faculty directory and pictures of an idyllic campus, both of which belong to Reed College in Portland, Ore., according to the Wall Street Journal.
Even the fake school’s history is taken nearly word for word from Reed’s website.

Jamie Scott Enyart, who was behind and to the left of RFK during the shooting, took a series of photos of the event. The state of California eventually "found" the missing negatives and sent a courier to deliver them to Enyart. But the Courier noticed his rental car had a flat tire and stopped at a service station to have it repaired, then went to the restroom leaving the car unlocked and the briefcase with the photos in plain view on the seat. When the courier returned, the briefcase and negatives were gone forever.
Employers in the U.S. announced more job cuts in February than in the same month last year, led by a surge at government agencies.

As manufacturing fell, the US Government, rather than deal with the problem, first created the service economy, then "featherbedded" government itself with thousands of gratuitous government programs requiring endless forms to be filled out and processed that produced nothing except keeping unemployment down. But now that absence of productivity has caught up with America. The nation is broke, looted by Wall Street's mortgage-backed securities fraud, and we still lag behind in manufacturing where once we led the world. Unless and until the wealth looted from America to bail out Wall Street is returned to America, the nation is doomed and even a new World War will not save it.

Publish their names so their neighbors, if they disapprove, can sue for their removal or imagined future damages, etc. Lisa Madigan's dad is Mike Madigan, a good friend of Rahm Emanuel, Obama and Patrick Fitzgerald.
As of this morning, the situation looks grim, if you know what to look for: Gold is trading at record levels, after rising overnight. The dollar index has broken below 77, but not decisively, hanging around the 76.8 and thinking it over. Libya’s Gaddafi is striking back at the Eastern Rebels, which is interrupting oil production in the country. And as I mentioned before, this morning, the euro producer price index rose enough to freak out the Germans.
Therefore, today—Wednesday, March 2, 2011—is a key date: Over the next eight trading days, we will see if the dollar rebounds above 77 on the index, or if it bounces back up.
If it bounces back up, we’ve kicked the can down the road a bit. But if it break lower, then this is the beginning of the death-slide of the dollar.

Few Americans remember Operation Cast Lead. Jews in America were told Israel had to finish off Hamas in order to protect itself. Israeli arms distribution company Global CST has reportedly, under the authorization of Tel Aviv, provided Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi with African mercenaries to clampdown on anti-government protesters.
Egyptian sources have revealed that the Israeli company has so far provided Gaddafi's regime with 50,000 African mercenaries to attack the civilian anti-government protesters in Libya.
Gaddafi regime pays $2000 per day for each mercenary. The mercenaries receive $100 per day and the remaining goes to Global CST, the report says.
"This is a massacre," the frantic Libyan woman, speaking by telephone while cowering in her apartment in Tripoli, told CNN's Anderson Cooper.
"I hope you know that people around the world are watching and praying and wanting to do something," Anderson told her, as if he were a stage prompter hinting at a performer's next line. Whether or not she had been given a copy of the script, the caller performed as expected: "[T]he first step [is to] make Libya a no-fly zone. If you make Libya a no-fly zone, no more mercenaries can come in.... There needs to be action. How much more waiting, how much more watching, how much more people dying?"
US Special Forces have reportedly landed in Libya to train anti-Gaddafi rebels as a western-backed coup d’état in the oil-rich nation nears, with British and French “defense advisors” also arriving to set up training bases in the rebel-controlled eastern region of the country.
According to a report in the Pakistan Observer, hundreds of special forces personnel from the US, Britain and France arrived on February 23 and 24 in “American and French warships and small naval boats off Libyan ports of Benghazi and Tobruk.”
More than 10,000 opposition supporters rallied in the Armenian capital on Tuesday, calling for the government's resignation on the third anniversary of deadly political unrest.

For the second year in a row, the winter temperature when averaged across the contiguous United States came in below the average temperature for the 20th century. This marks the first time since the winters of 1992-93 and 1993-94 that two winters in a row have been below the long-term normal, and it makes for the coldest back-to-back winter combination for at least the past 25 years.
After examining climate data extending back nearly 100 years, a team of Government scientists has concluded that there has been no significant change in average temperatures or rainfall in the United States over that entire period.
Customers of Bank of America Corp. were again having problems accessing their accounts online Tuesday. It was the second outage for the Charlotte, N.C., company in less than two months. The latest outages, which began Monday and hadn't been resolved by early Tuesday evening, were the result of system upgrades over the weekend, said Tara Burke, a company spokeswoman.

Well, news came out just a few days ago, that Egypt was officially opening up the border crossings with Gaza later this week! Guaranteed, this breaking of the siege of Gaza will not sit well with the evil Israelis, and they may try yet try something devious to prevent aid from reaching the starving citizens of Gaza itself!
Well, lo and behold, it appears that the Israelis may have found their method of preventing aid from reaching the people of the Gaza Strip itself. According to this article from Haaretz, at www.haaretz.com, Gaza "militants" have just launched a new "rocket attack" from the strip into Israel itself! And just by a "coincidence", considering that the aid convoys are about to roll, this happened just at the nick of time!

Third, the industry promulgated economic theories and ideologies that won the backing of the economics profession which largely did not see the crisis coming, making those who favored a crackdown on fraud appear unfashionable and out of date.
Fourth, prominent members of the financial services industry were appointed to top positions in the government agencies that should have cracked down on financial crime, but instead looked the other way. The foxes were indeed guarding the chicken coop guiding institutions that tolerated, if not enabled, an environment of criminality.
Fifth, the media was complicit, seduced, bought off and compromised. As the housing bubble mushroomed in the very period that the media was forced to downsize, dodgy lenders and credit card companies pumped billions into advertising in radio, television and the internet almost insuring that there would no undue media investigations Financial journalists increasingly embedded themselves in the culture and narrative of Wall Street by hyping stocks and CEOs...
The spice cinnamon has long been used in both cooking and in medicine. Since Egyptian times, cinnamon's healing abilities have been recognized and utilized.
