Texas Gov. Rick Perry presented legislation banning intrusive TSA pat-downs for consideration in the ongoing Eighty-Second Texas Legislature, First Called Session on Monday.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, RICK PERRY, Governor of the State of Texas, by the authority vested in me by Article IV, Section 8, and Article III, Section 40, of the Texas Constitution, do hereby present the following subject matter to the Eighty-Second Texas Legislature, First Called Session, for consideration:
State lawmakers have passed a bill that allows Texans to skirt federal efforts to promote more efficient light bulbs, which ultimately pushes the swirled, compact fluorescent bulbs over the 100-watt incandescent bulbs many grew up with.
The measure, sent to Gov. Rick Perry for consideration, lets any incandescent light bulb manufactured in Texas - and sold in that state - avoid the authority of the federal government or the repeal of the 2007 energy independence act that starts phasing out some incandescent light bulbs next year.
A beaming girl's picture is encased in the snow globe, which is about the size of a grapefruit and rests atop an expensive-looking wooden base proclaiming, "Congratulations, graduate!"
Alas, the graduate never received this gift. It rests amid a sea of San Antonio snow globes — and a few globes from Denver, Chicago and Disney World — on the shelves of the Texas State Surplus Store at 6506 Bolm Road, off U.S. 183.
Because it's filled with liquid, you can't carry a snow globe onto an airplane . . . In the five years this store has been open, its plane-related inventory has soared because of heightened security . . .
Virtually all of the nuclear reactors in the U.S. are of the same archaic design as those at Fukushima (Indeed, MSNBC notes that there are 23 U.S. reactors which are more or less identical to those at Fukushima.)
Called "light-water reactors", this design was not chosen for safety reasons. Rather, it was chosen because it worked in Navy submarines.
WASHINGTON (AFP) - The White House warned Monday that attempts in Congress to choke funding for all or part of US operations in Libya would send a "bad message" at a time when Moamer Kadhafi's days were "numbered."
President Barack Obama again finds itself on the defensive over the US role in the NATO mission this week, following a showdown with lawmakers last week over whether he usurped his power in ordering US action.
Congressional sources said that the House of Representatives could vote on measures which could curtail funding for US support operations over Libya, or a narrower bill squeezing some operations...
WASHINGTON (AFP) - (AFP) - The US Supreme Court rejected Monday a lawsuit that pitted six states against five major power companies accused of emitting greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change.
In a big win for the utilities and President Barack Obama's administration, the high court ruled the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) should place restrictions on greenhouse gas emissions, rather than let the matter be legislated in the courts...
Note: When a nuclear disaster happens in America we will KNOW EXACTLY WHO TO BLAME!!
In the wake of Fukushima, story [1] after story [2] has been published about the cozy relationship between Japan2019s nuclear industry and its regulators: Japanese nuclear regulators extended the use of reactors [3] despite concerns about equipment upkeep and left key safety measures to the initiative of plant operators [4], as many have reported in the months since.
As of late Obama has been doing a fine job of proving himself to be a warmonger just like his Republican counterparts which purport to hold different views. For those who still believe that the two-party system in America offers you two real choices, I think these recent events have been a fine example of how this is simply not the case.
Unfortunately for the people of America, our two choices end up carrying on the exact same agendas as those they replace. Obama has not fulfilled any of his most major campaign promises like closing Guantanamo Bay, bringing out troops home, repealing NAFTA/GATT, etc. Instead of bringing our troops home, he sent more out and created more conflicts.
Pollard, a former US Navy analyst, passed thousands of secret documents about American spy activities in the Arab world to Israel between May 1984 and his arrest in November 1985.
The Americans of the 1950s were taxed for $5 trillion dollars to build and maintain America's nuclear deterrent, and Pollard/Israel undermined that with their betrayal.
Shame on AFP for such shoddy reporting on the seriousness of Pollard's crimes.
Last week, Representative Darrell Issa, Chair of the House Government Oversight Committee, revealed how the Acting Director of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) evidently wanted to be personally involved with selling guns to criminals. In fact, E-mails of ATF supervisors describe how Director Kenneth Melson requested personal Internet access to ATF cameras hidden in Arizona gun shops so the Director could observe firearm sales to criminals.
Why is that important? Remember how our Border Patrol Agents were outgunned by a gang of criminals in the desert 40 miles south of Tucson near Rio Rico? Remember, on December 14, 2010, when an AK-47 round killed Border Patrol Agent, Brian Terry of Tucson?
Russia will likely continue lowering its U.S. debt holdings as Washington struggles to contain a budget deficit and bolster a tepid economic recovery, a top aide to President Dmitry Medvedev said Saturday.
Will Bernanke simply print up a bunch of spendable cash for the Russians the way he did with the Chinese, and will that trigger a Russian frenzy to buy up land and hard assets in the US?
Science Magazine reports that Japanese scientists have become so concerned about the health of their children that they have initiated their own radiation monitoring program and made their own maps. The results are shocking.
The sand shortage comes as the bloated river rose to within 18 inches of forcing the shutdown of Cooper Nuclear Plant at Brownville, Neb. It stopped and ebbed slightly Monday, a reprieve caused by levee breaches in northwest Missouri.
How wonderfully lucky for the nuclear power plant that the levees upriver failed and saved their investment!
Anyone living near those failed levees hear any loud bangs?
The United Nations refugee agency said Monday that as of last year, 43.7 million people around the globe had been forcibly displaced from their homes by conflict or persecution, the highest number in 15 years. Eighty percent of refugees were being sheltered in the world’s poorest countries, and the agency warned that they could not continue to shoulder the burden alone.
Director of UK Oil and Gas Ltd. Martyn Crute was snapped emerging from the courthouse dressed in women’s clothing in hopes of evading the media. Crute, whose company is charged with trading for 15 months without registering with the gas safety body, was quickly spotted by the press because…he’s obviously a man in drag. Apparently Martyn has never seen a real life drag queen before or he might have known how much they stand out, and gone with the old’ coat-over-the-head instead.

Because they pack enough energy to expulse electrons from atoms and molecules, ionizing radiation can directly damage cell structures such as DNA by breaking chemical bonds and inducing single- and double-strand breaks.
When this damage is not efficiently fixed by the DNA-repair machinery, mutations arise: Mutations in somatic cells can lead to cancer, and in germ line cells, genetic defects can be transmitted to offspring.
Israel Navy commander Adm. Eliezer Marom issued a stark warning on Sunday for the organizers of the Gaza flotilla intended to set sail at the end of the month.
"The Navy has prevented and will continue to prevent the arrival of the 'hate flotilla' whose only goals are to clash with IDF soldiers, create media provocation and to delegitimize the State of Israel," Marom cautioned, speaking during the Israel Navy Divers' Course concluding ceremony.
The Navy commander called on all parties involved to do everything they can to prevent the departure of what he called the "provocation flotilla."
Israel, trapped by their own ego and arrogance, has now painted itself into a corner politically. They have> to attack the humanitarian flotilla now, because Israel can never be seen to back down. This new attack will of course be condemned in the eyes of the world and Israel, again trapped by their own ego, will launch yet another massive public relations campaign to demonize the victim which will again be perceived by the world as proving Israel to be heartless, unrepentant for past crimes, and without remorse in inflicting war crimes on a captured and occupied people.
This will be another PR disaster for Israel, and they will bring it on themselves.
As far as we can discern the US Treasury thus far has spent and borrowed about $100 billion from the federal pension accounts. Unless there is a vote on the cash debt extension prior to August 2nd, government will probably have borrowed some $250 billion to $300 billion. The Treasury is paying virtually no interest on this debt. Three-month Treasury bills are currently yielding zero percent. Our question is how will the funds be generated to fulfill the Treasury’s obligation to the pension fund? What happens if on August 2nd if legislation is not passed? Does this go on forever? We will keep you apprised on new developments.
The world debt was always unpayable, because the private central bank debt-based currency model is designed to always keep the total debt exceeding the total money supply, in order to keep the world enslaved by debt to the bankers. The only solution is to do what Andrew Jackson did; shut the bank down and return to government-issued value-based currency.
"Gentlemen, I have had men watching you for a long time and I am convinced that you have used the funds of the bank to speculate in the breadstuffs of the country. When you won, you divided the profits amongst you, and when you lost, you charged it to the bank. You tell me that if I take the deposits from the bank and annul its charter, I shall ruin ten thousand families. That may be true, gentlemen, but that is your sin! Should I let you go on, you will ruin fifty thousand families, and that would be my sin! You are a den of vipers and thieves. I intend to rout you out, and by the Eternal God, I will rout you out." -- Andrew Jackson
The world has been enslaved with paper and ink, and it will be freed with blood.
As a teenager in northern New York, Gary Durham ran cross-country and hiked the Adirondack’s high peaks. In Army basic training, he did two-mile runs in under 13 minutes. But after a yearlong deployment to Iraq with the 101st Airborne Division in 2003, he says he started gasping for air while just mowing the lawn.
An emerging body of research indicates that Mr. Durham is one of a significant number of American service members who are reporting respiratory problems like coughing, wheezing or chest pains that started during deployment and continued after they returned home.
Federal regulators have been working closely with the nuclear power industry to keep the nation's aging reactors operating within safety standards by repeatedly weakening those standards, or simply failing to enforce them, an investigation by The Associated Press has found.
Remember what the EPA did when radioactivity from Fukushima started to exceed the maximum safety limits? They raised the limits and ended daily monitoring. Then the FDA stopped testing Pacific seafood for radiation.
all of this daily monitoring and testing was supposed to protect us from a terrorist "dirty bomb" attack, but the total shut down confirms that while the threat to American food corporations from radiation is very real, the terrorist "dirty bomb" threat was just another war-starting hoax.
It's mid-June, a perfect time to visit the beach to watch porpoises play in the surf or seagulls strut the sand -- or you could watch a formation of Marine Corps warplanes darting over the shore at hundreds of miles per hour.
But don't worry -- the United States hasn't declared war on your family's beach house. It's just part of a major Marine Corps exercise called Exercise Mailed Fist (translation: armored fist).
... sending a message to those uppity American serfs what will happen to them if they refuse to send their money to the bankers like Iceland, Egypt, Greece, and [watch this space] are doing!
State governments across the country are laying off teachers, closing public libraries and parks, and reducing health care services, but there is one place they could get $23 billion a year if they could only agree how to do it: Internet retailers such as Amazon.com.
The government will go on taxing and spending more and more (mostly to pay the religious tithes to the priests of the Federal Reserve) until all the nation is on the possession of the money-junkies. Why should they stop? The system works for them and their cronies. Thus, high taxes will not end until the people make them end.
"Debtocracy" a 75-minute documentary made for $15K has inflamed popular resistance in Greece by casting the debt crisis in a new light.
Seen on the Internet by over a million Greeks, the film convincingly argues that the debt is a neo-liberal ("Economic Hitman") scam and there are strong precedents for repudiating it.
The brainchild of Costas Lapavitsas, an economist and professor at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, the film introduces the concept of "odious debt" which was used in 2003 by the United States to renounce Saddam Hussein's $120 B debt to Russia and France.
I have seen you many times on Lame Street Media promoting your grandiose plan to kill Medicare. I realize targeting those least able to defend themselves from yet another round of the neo-con movement to redistribute the wealth to the upper 3% while leaving the country in ruins as jobs are shipped out and as corporations plunder the country, is underway.
While helping to spend the country into untenable debt and rolling out the red carpet to foreign investors and corporations who are steadily consuming everything in sight, I realize that you have to dispense with any program or initiative which would lend support to the elderly, that class of useless eaters so despised by so many of you.
Senator John McGee, the Majority Caucus Chair in the Idaho Statehouse, was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with grand theft and driving under the influence.
"He said he was looking for the promised land," Carleton said. "He didn't know where he was at. He was dazed and confused. He was in another world."
The problem with political power is that it attracts the very sort of people who should never be allowed to have it!
Washington, DC — The Obama administration has endorsed genetically engineered agriculture on more than 50 National Wildlife Refuges, with more GE-refuge approvals in the works, according to Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility.
Then they are not "wildlife" refuges any more, are they? It's just another taxpayer-subsidized experimental farm. The goal appears to wipe out all natural food crops to force us into dependence on the owners of the modified gene foods.
CMC Markets, a broker out of Australia which offers Contracts For Difference (CFDs), has just formally joined the increasingly larger group headed by Forex.com (discussed on Saturday) which is now advising customers that gold and silver trading will be prohibited in a month. Specifically, CMC has said that beginning July 29, it will no longer offer nor roll any of its existing gold and silver CFDs.
Looks like the naked shorts got to be a major embarrassment. So Congress gave them an escape hatch.
I also have been cautioned by a source with access to very senior staffers at the National Security Council that not only does the White House plan to do absolutely nothing to protect our boat from Israeli attack or illegal boarding, but that White House officials “would be happy if something happened to us.” They are, I am reliably told, “perfectly willing to have the cold corpses of activists shown on American TV.”
If the American government will not protect Americans, then it is time for a new government.
Tokyo Electric Power Co. continued struggling Monday to restart a newly installed water treatment system at its crippled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant, aiming to resume full operations Tuesday.
There is very real threat of a flood that will leave St. Louis in chest-high water. The reason: Six old, huge, faulty dams that normally have reserve space for spring snow melt are nearly full now — before the spring floods start. Floodgates that haven't been opened in 50 years have begun to open. Flooding has begun. And the human and economic toll could be ghastly.
Why another flood disaster? Six dams from Fort Peck in Montana to Gavins Point in South Dakota, authorized by the Flood Control Act of 1944, are in the process of failing at flood control.
While we were not watching, conspiracy theory has undergone Orwellian redefinition.
A “conspiracy theory” no longer means an event explained by a conspiracy. Instead, it now means any explanation, or even a fact, that is out of step with the government’s explanation and that of its media pimps.
For example, online news broadcasts of RT have been equated with conspiracy theories by the New York Times simply because RT reports news and opinions that the New York Times does not report and the US government does not endorse.
The first Chromebooks, from Samsung and Acer, are finally starting to ship, after a six-month tease by Google for its foundational Chrome OS. (Samsung's white 3G model is now shippng, and its three other models and Acer's sole models are available for preorder.) Please, save youself $350 to $500 and avoid these cloud-only laptops.
Worcester State University police officers working the overnight shift routinely used their security keys to get into a locked campus café and help themselves to food and drinks without paying, according to university records and officials.
Germany is set to turn back to coal, gas and imports to fill the energy chasm left by its fast-track exit of nuclear power, refusing to boost green power and threatening its efforts to lower emissions.
What would all the world's experts and authorities say today if the Titanic were sinking but nobody was willing to admit it? The U.S. economy, after all, is sinking and taking on an unprecedented volume of water (i.e. debt), yet virtually no one is willing to admit the obvious fact that this ship is sinking. And much like with the Titanic, most "experts" continue to claim the U.S. economy is unsinkable, despite the obvious evidence that we might want to start heading for the life rafts.
So in the spirit of comedy -- which is, after all, what we are witnessing in Washington these days -- imagine The Titanic hitting an iceberg in 2011, followed by a string of experts all trying to spin the story their own way. Here's what they might say:
TEPCO also began late Sunday to release air containing radioactive substances from the building of reactor 2 by opening its doors.
An estimated 1.6 billion becquerels of radioactive materials were released, compared with 500 million becquerels when the double doors of the building of reactor 1 were opened in May, the Jiji Press agency reported, citing TEPCO.
The operator denied that the releases would have an impact on the environment.
The move was aimed at lowering the 99-per-cent humidity inside the reactors, which was further hindering repair work.
The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled for Wal-Mart in its fight to block a massive sex discrimination lawsuit on behalf of women workers.
The court ruled unanimously Monday that the lawsuit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. cannot proceed as a class action, reversing a decision by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco.
The lawsuit could have involved up to 1.6 million women, with Wal-Mart facing potentially billions of dollars in damages.
Now, the handful of women who brought the lawsuit may pursue their claims on their own, with much less money at stake and less pressure on Wal-Mart to settle.
Sunday, the prestigious Doctor Mark Sircus released a new report concurring with a host of scientists and other doctors giving evidence that people of Japan and United States have been subjected to dangerous levels of radiation since Fukushima nuclear plant meltdowns, and also subjected to a tight cover-up by authorities and media, the result of which will be millions of baby deaths and new cancer victims. Japanese and American children are already suffering with symptoms that appear to be the first signs of Radiation Sickness.
The passengers who will be on the U.S. boat, from 14 states and the District of Columbia, represent virtually every geographic region of the United States. Fifty eight percent women and 42% men, they are of all ages, and a variety of occupations. The group is approximately one-quarter people of color, and one-quarter American Jews.
John Greyon’s smile didn’t waver for a moment as he answered questions and posed for photos.
But he admitted he is worried.
“There is concern about what can happen,” said the Toronto filmmaker and York University professor who was at Pearson International Airport on Sunday. “But I am also inspired by how big this is.”
He was among seven Canadians who flew to Greece Sunday to join a convoy of ships that is trying to take aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip in the coming weeks.
Check out the comments section for the obvious Israeli trolls trying to demonize the humanitarian workers.
As things have been heating up in Greece over the last several months, one of our readers has been keeping us abreast as to the goings on and the general sentiment of the Greek people. While European leaders like to downplay the seriousness of what’s happening on the ground, it’s clear that Greece is falling apart right before our eyes. This may very well be a prelude to what will be experienced in other nations who are on the brink of sovereign debt crises, insolvency and bankruptcy. That includes Spain, Portugal, Italy, Eastern European nations, and eventually the United States.
The bankers bought the corrupt politicians, who sold their nation into the bondage of a debt-based currency system which enslaves nations with little more than a paper and ink fraud. Now the bankers want to claim ownership of the property of the people in order to rent it back to the people. And the people, who had no voice in this disaster, are starting to fight back.
You have a choice, freedom or slavery. Your slavery was purchased with ink and paper. Your freedom will be purchased with blood. There is no third choice.
Chris King Pop Icon's commentary of the Apache Helicopter Attack video - the killing of 3 Iraqi farmers. The venerable Robert Fisk comments: "The pictures are appalling, the words devastating. As a wounded Iraqi crawls from beneath a burning truck, an American helicopter pilot tells his commander that one of three men has survived his night air attack. "Someone wounded," the pilot cries. Then he received the reply: "Hit him, hit the truck and him." As the helicopter's gun camera captures the scene on video, the pilot fires a 30mm gun at the wounded man, vaporising him in a second."Analysis details the fact that these people were indeed... Farmers. Heaven?
"Becker said the river is expected to crest there at a little over 900 feet. At such a level, officials would need to barricade internal doorways at the plant to protect equipment."
If they have to barricade internal doorways that means that the water is expected to top the plant's outer wall...
Stephen McDow of Laguna Beach, California has been jailed for spending the $110,000 federal tax refund that the IRS erroneously deposited in his Citibank account. The refund was intended for a Los Angeles woman who requested that the funds be deposited in her Citibank account, but she gave the IRS her old account number that had been reassigned to Mr. McDow.
Obama cannot run on the economy, the wars, the Gulf, Israel, or pretty much anything else that really affects the nation as a whole, so he is going to wave Gay Marriage around as a campaign issue for 2012.
A New Hampshire man burned himself to death today in front of a courthouse. The specific reasons are individual to him, regarding a domestic violence arrest and prosecution. But the larger reason he killed himself is that he says the system no longer follows the Rule of Law. Once you read past the details, he gives a fascinating analysis of the system. He argues for a complete takedown of the Federal Government and starting over from scratch.
The corporate media is marginalizing this story while continuing to focus on Rep. Weiner's Weiner and Sarah Paling-from-memory.
Brandwynne “Brandie” Prespentt finished work at 3 p.m. June 10 and ran some errands. On the other side of town, a dog assigned to a Precinct 4 constable’s deputy was attacking her husband, Travis.
The incident, which led to an arm injury requiring 22 stitches, was the climax of a bizarre sequence of events that began when the couple’s neighbor, Tamara Denise Whiteside, phoned in a false report accusing Travis Prespentt of pistol-whipping and strangling his wife and dumping her in the back of his car.
As the 'hooded man' in the infamous Abu Ghraib pictures, Haj Ali became an icon of everything that was wrong with the US occupation. He tells his story and we hear from other prisoners.
Muslims in the West have long been under attack for the ban in Saudi Arabia (ruled by a western puppet Ultra-Orthodox Wahhabi minority) for women to drive in public. However, these western bigots are at loss to face the fact that Jewish women are neither allowed to drive or walk on the same side of the street as men – right in New Square, an Orthodox Jewish enclave north of Time Square.
Yesterday the U.S. Supreme Court issued one of the best and most important decisions ever on federalism. The Court unanimously held that not just states but individuals have standing to challenge federal laws as violations of state sovereignty under the 10th Amendment.
What has become hell on earth for the Palestinians being displaced from their lands and homes has turned out to be heaven on earth for the illegal settlers responsible for this….
Can we blame the settler alone when he has the backing of the governments of both Israel and the United States?
As the world itself slowly wakes up to the reality of a soon to be Palestinian State, take a look at what the settlers themselves are waking up to….
I’ve never considered myself to be a ‘dog person’, but three years ago an abandoned puppy decided to adopt me. He’s been living with us ever since and despite our cultural differences, it’s been a most pleasant experience…. just look at his photo and tell me truthfully that you couldn’t fall in love with this creature…
These kids had been taken from their homes in the middle of the night, many handcuffed and blindfolded,” Horton said. “They were then interrogated hours later and by this time they were traumatized and disoriented, and not able to withstand the pressure.”

You're not going to believe some of these numbers on HUGE corporations who pay no taxes - Plus a very entertaining new video added of Sanders on the Senate floor ripping everyone from Goldman Sachs to Exxon.
I am fed up with all this nonsense about recognizing Israel as the “Jewish state.”
It is based on a collection of hollow phrases and vague definitions, devoid of any real content. It serves many different purposes, almost all of them malign.
The way I see it, the gate to first containing and then rolling back Israel, and thus helping Palestine, is not over there, it is in the US. The lock to that gate is not in Washington, it is in the heartland of America where the Zionists have as of yet remarkably little influence. And the key to that lock is the open wound today which is 9/11 and the wars it spawned. Nail them on 9/11 and the cover-up of it, nail them for the wars they contrived and the wars they want the US to wage on Israel’s behalf, nail them for the lives and treasure America has spent and the lives it has taken waging America’s Jewish Wars, nail them often and hard, and the Zionists may end up wishing Germany had won WWII.
Afghanistan's finance minister has blasted the International Monetary Fund for stopping a $70 million payment after the near collapse of nation's largest private bank.
Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal told journalists Monday that the IMF focused on minor issues and was "not a willing partner" to resolve issues surrounding the Kabul Bank crisis.
Zakhilwal says even if Afghanistan met all the requirements, the IMF would find something else to criticize the nation about.
The IMF has said that trust fund donors made the decision to stop the payment. The Kabul Bank scandal has stalled a large chunk of donor funding to Afghanistan as allies wait until they are confident the government has fixed the financial crisis.
Though Treasury likes to gloat about TARP funds having been paid back by the big banks, the banks have received a back-door bailout, of almost exactly the same size, that will never be paid back. Almost no one talks about it, and no one in government is even keeping track of it.
While the Justice Department is criminally inept, or worse, when it comes to prosecuting corporate thieves who looted, and continue to loot, trillions of dollars as capitalism's economic crisis accelerates, they are extremely adept at waging war on dissent.
CAIRO: In what appears to be a new twist in the case of an alleged Israeli spy arrested in Egypt last week, the Israeli government has offered a prisoner exchange for Elan Grappel’s release, al-Akhbar reported.
The report said that officials in Jerusalem have offered to release three Egyptians held in Israeli prison in return for the Grappel, who was arrested and accused of spying for the Jewish state.
Despite the newspaper’s report, Bikya Masr could not verify the information and no Israeli newspaper has reported a similar offer.
The report added that the Egyptian prisoners are serving sentences in Israeli jails for various convictions, and the Egyptian authorities are considering Israel’s offer.
The United States flotilla group, US to Gaza, reacting to Israeli threats of violence, sent a letter to President Barack Obama informing him that:
As U.S. citizens we expect our country and its leaders to help ensure the Flotilla’s safe passage to Gaza – as our country should support our humanitarian demand that the Gaza blockade be lifted. This should begin by notifying the Israeli government in clear and certain terms that it may not physically interfere with the upcoming Flotilla of which the U.S. boat—The Audacity of Hope — is part.
Europe has promised to unblock existing bailout loans for Greece and draw up a second financial rescue as long as its parliament approves fierce new budget cuts and a raft of asset sales.
After seven hours of crunch talks aimed at averting Greek default and fears of a domino effect across their shared currency area, eurozone finance ministers said they and the IMF would release 12 billion euros ($A16.25 billion) of loans in "mid-July" once Greece's parliament passed the austerity measures. They also agreed on a roadmap for a second, 100 billion euro ($A135.45 billion) bailout, which would involve taxpayers' money but also a "substantial" contribution via the "informal and voluntary rollovers of existing Greek debt at maturity" by private banks, pension funds and insurers.
The U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan publicly reproached Afghanistan's president Sunday for painting American forces here as occupiers and enemies — one of the strongest signs yet that Afghanistan's international allies are no longer willing to excuse President Hamid Karzai's harangues as harmless domestic politicking.
U.S. Ambassador Karl Eikenberry told university students and faculty in the western city of Herat that he felt the need to speak from his heart as he reaches the end of his two-year tour as ambassador. The words that came next were strongly critical of the Afghan president, without naming Karzai.
"I find occasional comments from some of your leaders hurtful and inappropriate," Eikenberry told the crowd according to a transcript of the speech.
A recent court case in Utah has uncovered yet more evidence that the FBI is hiding key documents from the public by placing them in a separate, hitherto unknown electronic storage medium known as an “S-drive.” The fact that this drive was previously unknown has raised the specter that the FBI are using it as a place to hide requests for sensitive documents through the Freedom of Information Act...
The SP 500 hit an apocryphal low during the financial crisis of 666 in March of 2009 from which point it has surged to more than double in price in about two years. This bull market is one of the most robust in US equities history; its only rivals are the end of the roaring 20s and the late 1990s.

"Senator" John McCain is a traitor in every sense of the word. He is a man who has overtly divorced himself from the US Constitution (see also: McCain's support for the Patriot Act) he has sworn an oath to defend, first as a Navy pilot, then as a Senator. He consorts with, lobbies for, and procures money and resources for real terrorists while citing battalions of fictitious bearded men to justify his numerous transgressions against America's Bill of Rights. When John McCain isn't literally shaking the hands of terrorists in Benghazi, fresh back from Iraq and Afghanistan with American blood on their hands, he is berating Americans who believe US imperialism must end...
Americans must to decide if, in the name of homeland security, they are willing to allow TSA operatives to storm public places in their communities with no warning, pat them down, and search their bags. And they better decide quickly.
In 2004, the Bush administration flew twenty billion dollars of shrink-wrapped cash into Iraq on pallets. Now the bulk of that money has disappeared. The funds flown into the war zone were made up of surplus from the UN's oil-for-food program, as well as money from sales of Iraqi oil and seized Iraqi assets. Recent estimates had the amount of missing money at about $6.6 billion, but according to Al Jazeera, Iraqi Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi says the figure is closer to three times that amount...

The enslavement of humanity is replete throughout history. The reason is simple: The nature of societies allows corrupt sociopaths and malicious methods of domination to rule. The chronicles of any era clearly documents that liberty is rare. Inherent Autonomy is the intrinsic nature of the human condition. However, in the eternal struggle to achieve individual freedom, governments operate as overseers in invented schemes to herd human beasts into inhuman subjugation. The rule of the rulers over the resistance of the ruled is reality...
As the mainstream media continues to be obsessed with Anthony Weiner, John Edwards, sports, Hollywood movies, Bristol Palin and Miss USA are what the mainstream media want to tell us about, and most Americans are buying it. But much more serious events are happening around the world that are getting very little attention.
#1 Media Blackout: The crisis at the Fort Calhoun nuclear facility in Nebraska has received almost no attention in the national mainstream media.
Congress is embroiled in debate about whether President Barack Obama violated the War Powers Act by using military force in Libya without gaining approval from Congress first.
A bipartisan group of House members is suing Obama.
Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) said that Congress must vote and approve the intervention.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said on “Meet the Press” Sunday that “Congress should sort of shut up and not empower Gaddafi.”
In 2011, America is for sale and the communist Chinese are eager buyers. The Chinese government is using sovereign wealth funds and Chinese state-owned enterprises to buy up economic assets and huge tracts of land all over the United States. Many of our politicians hail all of this "foreign investment" as something that is "good for America", while many others see something much more sinister going on here. In any event, this is a trend that is rapidly accelerating and that is causing great concern among patriotic Americans...
As recent political fiascoes involving Rep. Anthony Weiner and ex-Sen. John Edwards have shown, the power of the press carries weight, especially in Washington. Careers of high-rising politicos can be buried or propelled to new heights in a matter of minutes by the media. - OpenSecrets.org
New reports suggest the US is preparing to deploy as many as 30,000 troops to Libya this October in direct contradiction to earlier assurances that there would be no boots on the ground.
The heroism and sacrifice of this next flotilla will not be in vain. Despite more brazen lies from Mark Regev and biased portrayals of events by the likes of Jane Corbin, Mr Netanyahu's stubborn, blinkered stupidity will further damage Israel's international image while further advancing the Palestinian cause. No Nobel Peace Laureate will be able to disguise the guilt if more Israeli hoods batter more human rights workers. No selectively edited whitewash report, with of without endorsement from professors of international law, will be able to conceal the truth this time from the people of the world.
What does it mean to support a "sovereign" Palestine which is totally disarmed and geographically divided by a hostile Jewish state brimming with military might? The geopolitical condition that's been created in '67 is irreversible. Cannot be changed. You cannot unscramble that egg.
What is needed now is a rational assessment of the situation in light of the given facts. When this is carried through, all signs point to a One State Solution. What was once the utopian dream of Jewish intellectuals like Martin Buber, Gershom Scholem, and Albert Einstein, has now become the banner of hard-nosed realists. -Landon Frim
My friends, you have not yet recognized that we are at war within our country. We are living on capital, on the fat accumulated by past generations of inventors, builders and social reformers. It will soon be gone and our war will become exactly like those of Tunisia, Egypt or Syria. Perhaps like Afghanistan. You don’t believe it? Just look at the speed of collapse in Greece. - Christopher King
Take all your overgrown infants away somewhere and build them a home -- a lttle place of their own -- the 'Fletcher Memorial Home' for incurable tyrants and kings . . . .
In the 1970’s, Dr. Burzynski made a remarkable discovery that threatened to change the face of cancer treatment forever. His non-toxic gene-targeted cancer medicine could have helped save millions of lives over the last two decades had his discovery not been criminally suppressed by the US government, as his therapy, called “antineoplastons,” have been shown to effectively help cure some of the most “incurable” forms of terminal cancer.
Don't forget that a Greek bailout does NOT bailout the people of Greece - It is a bailout for the reckless banks who lent money to the Greek government.
The revelation by Glenn Carle, a former CIA official, that the Bush White House sought information on Prof. Juan Cole, an academic and critic of the Iraq war, in order to discredit him is hardly shocking, at least to anyone of my generation...
Much has been said about both the moral hazard of banks being bailed out and people bailing out of mortgages. The major question raised was, Would this ‘bailout’ contagion infect the integrity of our economic and political system? But far more interesting and much less discussed are the mechanics of modern banking and their moral implications...
The alliance would transfer its ground forces from a military base in the city of Heidelberg in southwestern Germany and another outpost in Spain to the Izmir Air Station in western Turkey, Journal of Turkish Weekly reported earlier in the month.
The base, NATO's oldest stronghold in Turkey, currently accommodates 400 operational and technical forces.
The move constitutes a part of sweeping reforms in the alliance, which according to its Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen would ultimately "make NATO leaner, more flexible, and better able to deal with future challenges."...
A US District court has dismissed over 100,000 lawsuits brought against BP And Transocean to pay for oil spill clean up costs and environmental damages to the Gulf of Mexico caused by the BP Gulf Oil Spill.
The court ruled that injury stopped the moment the well was sealed and that the Federal Government, aka The US Taxpayer, is now liable for clean up costs along with any damages caused by deficiencies of the cleanup of the Gulf Of Mexico.
The US District Courts have ruled that since oil is no longer flowing from the Macando Well, BP and Transocean are not liable for cleanup costs and damages from the BP Gulf Oil Spill since the “well has already been sealed and the injury has already been committed”.
Senator Grassley and others on the committee have complained that the ATF and Justice Department have provided little information about the gun-tracing operation, how it was conducted and who supervised it."
Preface: I was raised to be against gun ownership. But I have changed my mind, especially after learning:
Two of the best-known promoters of nonviolence in history were not opposed to guns. Specifically, Mahatma Gandhi wrote in his book, An Autobiography (page 446):
Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest … if we want to learn the use of arms, here is a golden opportunity.
